Notice regarding the training manual:

We did not steal the document, nor are we involved with any theft from the United States Government, and we did not get the document by way of any dishonest methods. We feel that we are not endangering the “National Security” by reproducing this document, quite the contrary; it has been authenticated and we feel that we are not only within our rights to publish it, but morally bound to do so. We believed that the entire world should know about this plan, so we distributed internationally one-hundred of these manuscripts, to ask individuals at top level positions their opinions. The consensus opinion was to distribute this to as many people as who wanted it, to the end that they would not only understand that “War” had been declared against them, but would be able to properly identify the true enemy to Humanity.

The following document is taken from two sources. The first, was acquired on a website listing as its source the book titled Behold A Pale Horse by William Cooper; Light Technology Publishing, 1991. The second source is a crudely copied booklet which does not contain a copyright notice, or a publishers name. With the exception of the Forward, the Preface, the main thing that was missing from the first source was the illustrations. As we began comparing the two, we realized that the illustrations, and the accompanying text (also missing from the first) made up a significant part of the document. This has now been restored by The Lawful Path, and so far as I know, is the only internet copy available complete with the illustrations.

We have no first-hand knowledge that this document is genuine, however many of the concepts contained herein are certainly reasonable, important, and bear strong consideration.

If anyone has additional knowledge about the source of this document; has better copies of the illustrations than the ones posted here; has any missing pieces to this document, or has any comments which can improve upon the quality of this document, we will appreciate your comments.

Preface

Conspiracy theories are nothing new to history. Plots to “kill Caesar” and overthrow Rome abounded, for instance. however, it is seldom that concrete clues to such plots come to light, and are generally known.

Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars, An Introduction Programming Manual was uncovered quite by accident on July 7, 1986 when an employee of Boeing Aircraft Co. purchased a surplus IBM copier for scrap parts at a sale, and discovered inside details of a plan, hatched in the embryonic days of the “Cold War” which called for control of the masses through manipulation of industry, peoples’ pastimes, education and political leanings. It called for a quiet revolution, putting brother against brother, and diverting the public’s attention from what is really going on.

The document you are about to read is real. It is reprinted in its virgin form, with diagrams, as a touch of reality.

Security

It is patently impossible to discuss social engineering or the automation of a society, i.e., the engineering of social automation systems (silent weapons) on a national or worldwide scale without implying extensive objectives of social control and destruction of human life, i.e., slavery and genocide.

This manual is in itself an analog declaration of intent. Such a writing must be secured from public scrutiny. Otherwise, it might be recognized as a technically formal declaration of domestic war. Furthermore, whenever any person or group of persons in a position of great power and without full knowledge and consent of the public, uses such knowledge and methodologies for economic conquest – it must be understood that a state of domestic warfare exists between said person or group of persons and the public.

The solution of today’s problems requires an approach which is ruthlessly candid, with no agonizing over religious, moral or cultural values.

You have qualified for this project because of your ability to look at human society with cold objectivity, and yet analyze and discuss your observations and conclusions with others of similar intellectual capacity without the loss of discretion or humility. Such virtues are exercised in your own best interest. Do not deviate from them.

Historical Introduction

Silent weapon technology has evolved from Operations Research (O.R.), a strategic and tactical methodology developed under the Military Management in England during World War II. The original purpose of Operations Research was to study the strategic and tactical problems of air and land defense with the objective of effective use of limited military resources against foreign enemies (i.e., logistics).

It was soon recognized by those in positions of power that the same methods might be useful for totally controlling a society. But better tools were necessary.

Social engineering (the analysis and automation of a society) requires the correlation of great amounts of constantly changing economic information (data), so a high-speed computerized data-processing system was necessary which could race ahead of the society and predict when society would arrive for capitulation.

Relay computers were to slow, but the electronic computer, invented in 1946 by J. Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly, filled the bill.

The next breakthrough was the development of the simplex method of linear programming in 1947 by the mathematician George B. Dantzig.

Then in 1948, the transistor, invented by J. Bardeen, W.H. Brattain, and W. Shockley, promised great expansion of the computer field by reducing space and power requirements.

With these three inventions under their direction, those in positions of power strongly suspected that it was possible for them to control the whole world with the push of a button.

Immediately, the Rockefeller Foundation got in on the ground floor by making a four-year grant to Harvard College, funding the Harvard Economic Research Project for the study of the structure of the American Economy. One year later, in 1949, The United States Air Force joined in.

In 1952 the grant period terminated, and a high-level meeting of the Elite was held to determine the next phase of social operations research. The Harvard project had been very fruitful, as is borne out by the publication of some of its results in 1953 suggesting the feasibility of economic (social) engineering. (Studies in the Structure of the American Economy – copyright 1953 by Wassily Leontief, International Science Press Inc., White Plains, New York).

Engineered in the last half of the decade of the 1940′s, the new Quiet War machine stood, so to speak, in sparkling gold-plated hardware on the showroom floor by 1954.

With the creation of the maser in 1954, the promise of unlocking unlimited sources of fusion atomic energy from the heavy hydrogen in sea water and the consequent availability of unlimited social power was a possibility only decades away.

The combination was irresistible.

The Quiet War was quietly declared by the International Elite at a meeting held in 1954.

Although the silent weapons system was nearly exposed 13 years later, the evolution of the new weapon-system has never suffered any major setbacks.

This volume marks the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the Quiet War. Already this domestic war has had many victories on many fronts throughout the world.

Political Introduction

In 1954 it was well recognized by those in positions of authority that it was only a matter of time, only a few decades, before the general public would be able to grasp and upset the cradle of power, for the very elements of the new silent-weapon technology were as accessible for a public utopia as they were for providing a private utopia.

The issue of primary concern, that of dominance, revolved around the subject of the energy sciences.

Energy

Energy is recognized as the key to all activity on earth. Natural science is the study of the sources and control of natural energy, and social science, theoretically expressed as economics, is the study of the sources and control of social energy. Both are bookkeeping systems: mathematics. Therefore, mathematics is the primary energy science. And the bookkeeper can be king if the public can be kept ignorant of the methodology of the bookkeeping.

All science is merely a means to an end. The means is knowledge. The end is control. Beyond this remains only one issue: Who will be the beneficiary?

In 1954 this was the issue of primary concern. Although the so-called "moral issues" were raised, in view of the law of natural selection it was agreed that a nation or world of people who will not use their intelligence are no better than animals who do not have intelligence. Such people are beasts of burden and steaks on the table by choice and consent.

Consequently, in the interest of future world order, peace, and tranquillity, it was decided to privately wage a quiet war against the American public with an ultimate objective of permanently shifting the natural and social energy (wealth) of the undisciplined and irresponsible many into the hands of the self-disciplined, responsible, and worthy few.

In order to implement this objective, it was necessary to create, secure, and apply new weapons which, as it turned out, were a class of weapons so subtle and sophisticated in their principle of operation and public appearance as to earn for themselves the name "silent weapons."

In conclusion, the objective of economic research, as conducted by the magnates of capital (banking) and the industries of commodities (goods) and services, is the establishment of an economy which is totally predictable and manipulatable.

In order to achieve a totally predictable economy, the low-class elements of society must be brought under total control, i.e., must be housebroken, trained, and assigned a yoke and long-term social duties from a very early age, before they have an opportunity to question the propriety of the matter. In order to achieve such conformity, the lower-class family unit must be disintegrated by a process of increasing preoccupation of the parents and the establishment of government-operated day-care centers for the occupationally orphaned children.

The quality of education given to the lower class must be of the poorest sort, so that the moat of ignorance isolating the inferior class from the superior class is and remains incomprehensible to the inferior class. With such an initial handicap, even bright lower class individuals have little if any hope of extricating themselves from their assigned lot in life. This form of slavery is essential to maintain some measure of social order, peace, and tranquillity for the ruling upper class.

Descriptive Introduction of the Silent Weapon

Everything that is expected from an ordinary weapon is expected from a silent weapon by its creators, but only in its own manner of functioning.

It shoots situations, instead of bullets; propelled by data processing, instead of chemical reaction (explosion); originating from bits of data, instead of grains of gunpowder; from a computer, instead of a gun; operated by a computer programmer, instead of a marksman; under the orders of a banking magnate, instead of a military general.

It makes no obvious explosive noises, causes no obvious physical or mental injuries, and does not obviously interfere with anyone’s daily social life.

Yet it makes an unmistakable "noise," causes unmistakable physical and mental damage, and unmistakably interferes with the daily social life, i.e., unmistakable to a trained observer, one who knows what to look for.

The public cannot comprehend this weapon, and therefore cannot believe that they are being attacked and subdued by a weapon.

The public might instinctively feel that something is wrong, but that is because of the technical nature of the silent weapon, they cannot express their feeling in a rational way, or handle the problem with intelligence. Therefore, they do not know how to cry for help, and do not know how to associate with others to defend themselves against it.

When a silent weapon is applied gradually, the public adjusts/adapts to its presence and learns to tolerate its encroachment on their lives until the pressure (psychological via economic) becomes too great and they crack up.

Therefore, the silent weapon is a type of biological warfare. It attacks the vitality, options, and mobility of the individuals of a society by knowing, understanding, manipulating, and attacking their sources of natural and social energy, and their physical, mental, and emotional strengths and weaknesses.

Theoretical Introduction

Give me control over a nation’s currency, and I care not who makes its laws.– Mayer Amschel Rothschild, 1743 – 1812)

Today’s silent weapons technology is an outgrowth of a simple idea discovered, succinctly expressed, and effectively applied by the quoted Mr. Mayer Amschel Rothschild. Mr. Rothschild discovered the missing passive component of economic theory known as economic inductance. He, of course, did not think of his discovery in these 20th-century terms, and, to be sure, mathematical analysis had to wait for the Second Industrial Revolution, the rise of the theory of mechanics and electronics, and finally, the invention of the electronic computer before it could be effectively applied in the control of the world economy.

General Energy Concepts

In the study of energy systems, there always appears three elementary concepts. These are potential energy, kinetic energy, and energy dissipation. And corresponding to these concepts, there are three idealized, essentially pure physical counterparts called passive components.

  1. In the science of physical mechanics, the phenomenon of potential energy is associated with a physical property called elasticity or stiffness, and can be represented by a stretched spring.
  2. In electronic science, potential energy is stored in a capacitor instead of a spring. This property is called capacitance instead of elasticity or stiffness.
  3. In the science of physical mechanics, the phenomenon of kinetic energy is associated with a physical property called inertia or mass, and can be represented by a mass or a flywheel in motion.
  4. In electronic science, kinetic energy is stored in an inductor (in a magnetic field) instead of a mass. This property is called inductance instead of inertia.
  5. In the science of physical mechanics, the phenomenon of energy dissipation is associated with a physical property called friction or resistance, and can be represented by a dashpot or other device which converts energy into heat.
  6. In electronic science, dissipation of energy is performed by an element called either a resistor or a conductor, the term "resistor" being the one generally used to describe a more ideal device (e.g., wire) employed to convey electronic energy efficiently from one location to another. The property of a resistance or conductor is measured as either resistance or conductance reciprocals.

In economics these three energy concepts are associated with:

  1. Economic Capacitance – Capital (money, stock/inventory, investments in buildings and durables, etc.)
  2. Economic Conductance – Goods (production flow coefficients)
  3. Economic Inductance – Services (the influence of the population of industry on output)

All of the mathematical theory developed in the study of one energy system (e.g., mechanics, electronics, etc.) can be immediately applied in the study of any other energy system (e.g., economics).

Mr. Rothchild’s Energy Discovery

What Mr. Rothschild had discovered was the basic principle of power, influence, and control over people as applied to economics. That principle is "when you assume the appearance of power, people soon give it to you."

Mr. Rothschild had discovered that currency or deposit loan accounts had the required appearance of power that could be used to induce people (inductance, with people corresponding to a magnetic field) into surrendering their real wealth in exchange for a promise of greater wealth (instead of real compensation). They would put up real collateral in exchange for a loan of promissory notes. Mr. Rothschild found that he could issue more notes than he had backing for, so long as he had someone’s stock of gold as a persuader to show his customers.

Mr. Rothschild loaned his promissory notes to individual and to governments. These would create overconfidence. Then he would make money scarce, tighten control of the system, and collect the collateral through the obligation of contracts. The cycle was then repeated. These pressures could be used to ignite a war. Then he would control the availability of currency to determine who would win the war. That government which agreed to give him control of its economic system got his support.

Collection of debts was guaranteed by economic aid to the enemy of the debtor. The profit derived from this economic methodology mad Mr. Rothschild all the more able to expand his wealth. He found that the public greed would allow currency to be printed by government order beyond the limits (inflation) of backing in precious metal or the production of goods and services.

Apparent Capital as “Paper” Inductor

In this structure, credit, presented as a pure element called "currency," has the appearance of capital, but is in effect negative capital. Hence, it has the appearance of service, but is in fact, indebtedness or debt. It is therefore an economic inductance instead of an economic capacitance, and if balanced in no other way, will be balanced by the negation of population (war, genocide). The total goods and services represent real capital called the gross national product, and currency may be printed up to this level and still represent economic capacitance; but currency printed beyond this level is subtractive, represents the introduction of economic inductance, and constitutes notes of indebtedness.

War is therefore the balancing of the system by killing the true creditors (the public which we have taught to exchange true value for inflated currency) and falling back on whatever is left of the resources of nature and regeneration of those resources.

Mr. Rothschild had discovered that currency gave him the power to rearrange the economic structure to his own advantage, to shift economic inductance to those economic positions which would encourage the greatest economic instability and oscillation.

The final key to economic control had to wait until there was sufficient data and high-speed computing equipment to keep close watch on the economic oscillations created by price shocking and excess paper energy credits – paper inductance/inflation.

Breakthrough

The aviation field provided the greatest evolution in economic engineering by way of the mathematical theory of shock testing. In this process, a projectile is fired from an airframe on the ground and the impulse of the recoil is monitored by vibration transducers connected to the airframe and wired to chart recorders.

By studying the echoes or reflections of the recoil impulse in the airframe, it is possible to discover critical vibrations in the structure of the airframe which either vibrations of the engine or aeolian vibrations of the wings, or a combination of the two, might reinforce resulting in a resonant self-destruction of the airframe in flight as an aircraft. From the standpoint of engineering, this means that the strengths and weaknesses of the structure of the airframe in terms of vibrational energy can be discovered and manipulated.

Application in Economics

To use this method of airframe shock testing in economic engineering, the prices of commodities are shocked, and the public consumer reaction is monitored. The resulting echoes of the economic shock are interpreted theoretically by computers and the psycho-economic structure of the economy is thus discovered. It is by this process that partial differential and difference matrices are discovered that define the family household and make possible its evaluation as an economic industry (dissipative consumer structure).

Then the response of the household to future shocks can be predicted and manipulated, and society becomes a well-regulated animal with its reins under the control of a sophisticated computer-regulated social energy bookkeeping system.

Eventually every individual element of the structure comes under computer control through a knowledge of personal preferences, such knowledge guaranteed by computer association of consumer preferences (universal product code, UPC; zebra-striped pricing codes on packages) with identified consumers (identified via association with the use of a credit card and later a permanent "tattooed" body number invisible under normal ambient illumination).

Summary

Economics is only a social extension of a natural energy system. It, also, has its three passive components. Because of the distribution of wealth and the lack of communication and lack of data, this field has been the last energy field for which a knowledge of these three passive components has been developed.

Since energy is the key to all activity on the face of the earth, it follows that in order to attain a monopoly of energy, raw materials, goods, and services and to establixh a world system of slave labor, it is necessary to have a first strike capability in the field of economics. In order to maintain our position, it is necessary that we have absolute first knowledge of the science of control over all economic factors and the first experience at engineering the world economy.

In order to achieve such sovereignty, we must at least achieve this one end: that the public will not make either the logical or mathematical connection between economics and the other energy sciences or learn to apply such knowledge.

This is becoming increasingly difficult to control because more and more businesses are making demands upon their computer programmers to create and apply mathematical models for the management of those businesses.

It is only a matter of time before the new breed of private programmer/economists will catch on to the far reaching implications of the work begun at Harvard in 1948. The speed with which they can communicate their warning to the public will largely depend upon how effective we have been at controlling the media, subverting education, and keeping the public distracted with matters of no real importance.

The Economic Model

Economics, as a social energy science has as a first objective the description of the complex way in which any given unit of resources is used to satisfy some economic want. (Leontief Matrix). This first objective, when it is extended to get the most product from the least or limited resources, comprises that objective of general military and industrial logistics known as Operations Research. (See simplex method of linear programming.)

The Harvard Economic Research Project (1948-) was an extension of World War II Operations Research. Its purpose was to discover the science of controlling an economy: at first the American economy, and then the world economy. It was felt that with sufficient mathematical foundation and data, it would be nearly as easy to predict and control the trend of an economy as to predict and control the trajectory of a projectile. Such has proven to be the case. Moreover, the economy has been transformed into a guided missile on target.

The immediate aim of the Harvard project was to discover the economic structure, what forces change that structure, how the behavior of the structure can be predicted, and how it can be manipulated. What was needed was a well-organized knowledge of the mathematical structures and interrelationships of investment, production, distribution, and consumption.

To make a short story of it all, it was discovered that an economy obeyed the same laws as electricity and that all of the mathematical theory and practical and computer know-how developed for the electronic field could be directly applied in the study of economics. This discovery was not openly declared, and its more subtle implications were and are kept a closely guarded secret, for example that in an economic model, human life is measured in dollars, and that the electric spark generated when opening a switch connected to an active inductor is mathematically analogous to the initiation of war.

The greatest hurdle which theoretical economists faced was the accurate description of the household as an industry. This is a challenge because consumer purchases are a matter of choice which in turn is influenced by income, price, and other economic factors.

This hurdle was cleared in an indirect and statistically approximate way by an application of shock testing to determine the current characteristics, called current technical coefficients, of a household industry

Finally, because problems in theoretical electronics can be translated very easily into problems of theoretical electronics, and the solution translated back again, it follows that only a book of language translation and concept definition needed to be written for economics. The remainder could be gotten from standard works on mathematics and electronics. This makes the publication of books on advanced economics unnecessary, and greatly simplifies project security.

Industrial Diagrams

An ideal industry is defined as a device which receives value from other industries in several forms and converts them into one specific product for sales and distribution to other industries. It has several inputs and one output. What the public normally thinks of as one industry is really an industrial complex, where several industries under one roof produce one or more products.

A pure (single output) industry can be represented oversimply by a circuit block as follows:

Industry 'K'

The flow of product from industry #1 (supply) to industry #2 (demand) is denoted by 112. The total flow out of industry “K” is denoted by Ik (sales, etc.).

A three industry network can be diagrammed as follows:

3 Industry Network

A node is a symbol of collection and distribution of flow. Node #3 receives from industry #3 and distributes to industries #1 and #3. If industry #3 manufactures chairs, then a flow from industry #3 back to industry #3 simply indicates that industry #3 is using part of its own output product, for example, as office furniture. Therefore the flow may be summarized by the equations:

equations

Three Industrial Classes

Industries fall into three categories or classes by type of output:

  1. Class #1 – Capital (resources)
  2. Class #2 – Goods (commodities or use – dissipative)
  3. Class #3 – Services (action of population)
  • Class #1 industries exist at three levels:
    1. Nature – sources of energy and raw materials.
    2. Government – printing of currency equal to the gross national product (GNP), and extension of currency in excess of GNP.
    3. Banking – loaning of money for interest, and extension (inflation/counterfeiting) of economic value through the deposit loan accounts.

  • Class #2 industries exist as producers of tangible or consumer (dissipated) products. This sort of activity is usually recognized and labeled by the public as "industry."
  • Class #3 industries are those which have service rather than a tangible product as their output. These industries are called (1) households, and (2) governments. Their output is human activity of a mechanical sort, and their basis is population.

Aggregation

The whole economic system can be represented by a three-industry model if one allows the names of the outputs to be (1) capital, (2) goods, and (3) services. The problem with this representation is that it would not show the influence, say, the textile industry on the ferrous metal industry. This is because both the textile industry and the ferrous metal industry would be contained within a single classification called the "goods industry" and by this process of combining or aggregating these two industries under one system block they would lose their economic individuality.

The E-Model

A national economy consists of simultaneous flows of production, distribution, consumption, and investment. If all of these elements including labor and human functions are assigned a numerical value in like units of measure, say, 1939 dollars, then this flow can be further represented by a current flow in an electronic circuit, and its behavior can be predicted and manipulated with useful precision.

The three ideal passive energy components of electronics, the capacitor, the resistor, and the inductor correspond to the three ideal passive energy components of economics called the pure industries of capital, goods, and services, respectively.

  • Economic capacitance represents the storage of capital in one form or another.
  • Economic conductance represents the level of conductance of materials for the production of goods.
  • Economic inductance represents the inertia of economic value in motion. This is a population phenomenon known as services.

Economic Inductance

An electrical inductor (e.g., a coil or wire) has an electric current as its primary phenomenon and a magnetic field as its secondary phenomenon (inertia). Corresponding to this, an economic inductor has a flow of economic value as its primary phenomenon and a population field as its secondary field phenomenon of inertia. When the flow of economic value (e.g., money) diminishes, the human population field collapses in order to keep the economic value (money) flowing (extreme case – war).

This public inertia is a result of consumer buying habits, expected standard of living, etc., and is generally a phenomenon of self-preservation.

Inductive Factors to Consider

  1. Population
  2. Magnitude of the economic activities of the government
  3. The method of financing these government activities (See Peter-Paul Principle – inflation of the currency.)

Translation

(a few examples will be given.)

  • Charge: coulombs; dollars (1939).
  • Flow/Current: amperes (coulombs per second); dollars of flow per year.
  • Motivating Force: volts; dollars (output) demand.
  • Conductance: amperes per volt; dollars of flow per year per dollar demand.
  • Capacitance: coulombs per volt; dollars of production inventory/stock per dollar demand.

Time Flow Relationships and Self-Destructive Oscillations

An ideal industry may be symbolized electronically in various ways. The simplest way is to represent a demand by a voltage and a supply by a current. When this is done, the relationship between the two becomes what is called an admittance, which can result from three economic factors: (1) foresight flow, (2) present flow, and (3) hindsight flow.

  1. Foresight flow is the result of that property of living entities to cause energy (food) to be stored for a period of low energy (e.g., a winter season). It consists of demands made upon an economic system for that period of low energy (winter season).
In a production industry it takes several forms, one of which is known as production stock or inventory. In electronic symbology this specific industry demand (a pure capital industry) is represented by capacitance and the stock or resource is represented by a stored charge. Satisfaction of an industry demand suffers a lag because of the loading effect of inventory priorities.
  2. Present flow ideally involves no delays. It is, so to speak, input today for output today, a "hand to mouth" flow. In electronic symbology, this specific industry demand (a pure us industry) is represented by a conductance which is then a simple economic valve (a dissipative element).
  3. Hindsight flow is known as habit or inertia. In electronics this phenomenon is the characteristic of an inductor (economic analog = a pure service industry) in which a current flow (economic analog = flow of money) creates a magnetic field (economic analog = active human population) which, if the current (money flow) begins to diminish, collapse (war) to maintain the current (flow of money – energy).
  4. Other large alternatives to war as economic inductors or economic flywheels are an open-ended social welfare program, or an enormous (but fruitful) open-ended space program.

The problem with stabilizing the economic system is that there is too much demand on account of (1) too much greed and (2) too much population.

This creates excessive economic inductance which can only be balanced with economic capacitance (true resources or value – e.g., in goods or services).

The social welfare program is nothing more than an open-ended credit balance system which creates a false capital industry to give nonproductive people a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs. This can be useful, however, because the recipients become state property in return for the "gift," a standing army for the elite. For he who pays the piper picks the tune.

Those who get hooked on the economic drug, must go to the elite for a fix. In this, the method of introducing large amounts of stabilizing capacitance is by borrowing on the future "credit" of the world. This is a fourth law of motion – onset, and consists of performing an action and leaving the system before the reflected reaction returns to the point of action – a delayed reaction.

The means of surviving the reaction is by changing the system before the reaction can return. By this means, politicians become more popular in their own time and the public pays later. In fact, the measure of such a politician is the delay time.

The same thing is achieved by a government by printing money beyond the limit of the gross national product, and economic process called inflation. This puts a large quantity of money into the hands of the public and maintains a balance against their greed, creates a false self-confidence in them and, for awhile, stays the wolf from the door.

They must eventually resort to war to balance the account, because war ultimately is merely the act of destroying the creditor, and the politicians are the publicly hired hit men that justify the act to keep the responsibility and blood off the public conscience. (See section on consent factors and social-economic structuring.)

If the people really cared about their fellow man, they would control their appetites (greed, procreation, etc.) so that they would not have to operate on a credit or welfare social system which steals from the worker to satisfy the bum.

Since most of the general public will not exercise restraint, there are only two alternatives to reduce the economic inductance of the system.

  1. Let the populace bludgeon each other to death in war, which will only result in a total destruction of the living earth.
  2. Take control of the world by the use of economic "silent weapons" in a form of "quiet warfare" and reduce the economic inductance of the world to a safe level by a process of benevolent slavery and genocide.

The latter option has been taken as the obviously better option. At this point it should be crystal clear to the reader why absolute secrecy about the silent weapons is necessary. The general public refuses to improve its own mentality and its faith in its fellow man. It has become a herd of proliferating barbarians, and, so to speak, a blight upon the face of the earth.

They do not care enough about economic science to learn why they have not been able to avoid war despite religious morality, and their religious or self-gratifying refusal to deal with earthly problems renders the solution of the earthly problem unreachable to them.

It is left to those few who are truly willing to think and survive as the fittest to survive, to solve the problem for themselves as the few who really care. Otherwise, exposure of the silent weapon would destroy our only hope of preserving the seed of the future true humanity.

Industry Equivalent Circuits

The industry ‘Q’ can be given a block symbol as follows:

Industry 'Q'

Terminals #1 through #m are connected directly to the outputs of industries #1 and #m, respectively.

The equivalent circuit of industry ‘Q’ is given as follows:

Equivalent of 'Q'

Characteristics:

All inputs are at zero volts.
A – Amplifier – causes output current IQ to be represented by a voltage EQ. Amplifier delivers sufficient current at EQ to drive all loads Y10 through YmQ and sink all currents i1Q through imQ.

The unit transconductance amplifier AQ is constructed as follows:

transconductance amplifier

* Arrow denotes the direction of the flow of capital, goods, and services. The total demand is given as EQ, where EQ=IQ.

Coupling Network

The coupling network YPQ symbolizes the demand which industry Q makes on industry P. the connective admittance YPQ is called the ‘technical coefficient’ of the industry Q stating the demand of industry Q, called the industry of use, for the output in capital, goods, or services of industry P called the industry of origin.

The flow of commodities from industry P to industry Q is given by iPQ evaluated by the formula:

iPQ = YPQ* EQ.

When the admittance YPQ is a simple conductance, this formula takes on the common appearance of Ohm’s Law,

iPQ = gPQ* IQ.

The interconnection of a three industry system can be diagrammed as follows. The blocks of the industry diagram can be opened up revealing the technical coefficients, and a much simpler format. The equations of flow are given as follows:

Generalization

All of this may now be summarized.

Let Ij represent the output of industry j, and

  • ijk, the amount of the product of industry j absorbed annually by industry k, and
  • ijo, the amount of the same product j made available for ‘outside’ use. Then

Substituting the technical coefficiences, yjk

which is the general equation of every admittance in the industry circuit.

Final Bill of Goods

is called the final bill of goods or the bill of final demand, and is zero when the system can be closed by the evaluation of the technical coefficients of the ‘non-productive’ industries, government and households. Households may be regarded as a productive industry with labor as its output product.

The Technical Coefficients

The quantities yjk are called the technical coefficients of the industrial system. They are admittances and can consist of any combination of three passive parameters, conductance, capacitance, and inductance. Diodes are used to make the flow unidirectional and point against the flow.

  • gjk = economic conductance, absorption coefficient
  • yjk = economic capacitance, capital coefficient
  • Ljk = economic inductance, human activity coefficient

The Household Industry

The industries of finance (banking), manufacturing, and government, real counterparts of the pure industries of capital, goods, and services, are easily defined because they are generally logically structured. Because of this their processes can be described mathematically and their technical coefficients can be easily deduced. This, however, is not the case with the service industry known as the household industry.

Household Models

When the industry flow diagram is represented by a 2-block system of households on the right and all other industries on the left, the following results:

labor, etc.

The arrows from left to right labeled A, B, C, etc., denote flow of economic value from the industries in the left hand block to the industry in the right hand block called ‘households’. These may be thought of as the monthly consumer flows of the following commodities. A – alcoholic beverages, B – beef, C – coffee, . . . . , U – unknown, etc. . .

The problem which a theoretical economist faces is that the consumer preferences of any household is not easily predictable and the technical coefficients of any one household tend to be a nonlinear, very complex, and variable function of income, prices, etc.

Computer information derived from the use of the universal product code in conjuction with credit-card purchase as an individual household identifier could change this state of affairs, but the U.P.C. method is not yet available on a national or even a significant regional scale. To compensate for this data deficiency, an alternate indirect approach of analysis has been adopted known as economic shock testing. This method, widely used in the aircraft manufacturing industry, develops an aggregate statistical sort of data.

Applied to economics, this means that all of the households in one region or in the whole nation are studied as a group or class rather than individually, and the mass behavior rather than the individual behavior is used to discover useful estimates of the technical coefficients governing the economic structure of the hypothetical single-household industry.

Notice in the industry flow diagram that the values for the flows A, B, C, etc. are accessible to measurement in terms of selling prices and total sales of commodities.

One method of evaluating the technical coefficients of the household industry depends upon shocking the prices of a commodity and noting the changes in the sales of all of the commodities.

Economic Shock Testing

In recent times, the application of Operations Research to the study of the public economy has been obvious for anyone who understands the principles of shock testing.

In the shock testing of an aircraft airframe, the recoil impulse of firing a gun mounted on that airframe causes shock waves in that structure which tell aviation engineers the conditions under which some parts of the airplane or the whole airplane or its wings will start to vibrate or flutter like a guitar string, a flute reed, or a tuning fork, and disintegrate or fall apart in flight.

Economic engineers achieve the same result in studying the behavior of the economy and the consumer public by carefully selecting a staple commodity such as beef, coffee, gasoline, or sugar, and then causing a sudden change or shock in its price or availability, thus kicking everybody’s budget and buying habits out of shape.

They then observe the shock waves which result by monitoring the changes in advertising, prices, and sales of that and other commodities.

The objective of such studies is to acquire the know-how to set the public economy into a predictable state of motion or change, even a controlled self-destructive state of motion which will convince the public that certain "expert" people should take control of the money system and reestablish security (rather than liberty and justice) for all. When the subject citizens are rendered unable to control their financial affairs, they, of course, become totally enslaved, a source of cheap labor.

Not only the prices of commodities, but also the availability of labor can be used as the means of shock testing. Labor strikes deliver excellent tests shocks to an economy, especially in the critical service areas of trucking (transportation), communication, public utilities (energy, water, garbage collection), etc.

By shock testing, it is found that there is a direct relationship between the availability of money flowing in an economy and the real psychological outlook and response of masses of people dependent upon that availability.

For example, there is a measurable quantitative relationship between the price of gasoline and the probability that a person would experience a headache, feel a need to watch a violent movie, smoke a cigarette, or go to a tavern for a mug of beer.

It is most interesting that, by observing and measuring the economic models by which the public tries to run from their problems and escape from reality, and by applying the mathematical theory of Operations Research, it is possible to program computers to predict the most probable combination of created events (shocks) which will bring about a complete control and subjugation of the public through a subversion of the public economy (by shaking the plum tree).

Introduction to the Theory of Economic Shock Testing

Let the prices and total sales of commodities be given and symbolized as follows:

Commodities Price Function Total Sales
alcoholic beverages A A
beef B B
coffee C C
gasoline G G
sugar S S
tobacco T T
unknown balance U U

Let us assume a simple economic model in which the total number of important (staple) commodities are represented as beef, gasoline, and an aggregate of all other staple commodities which we will call the hypothetical miscellaneous staple commodity ‘M’ (e.g., M is an aggregate of C, S, T, U, etc.).

Example of Shock Testing

Assume that the total sales, P, of petroleum products can be described by the linear function of the quantities B, G, and M, which are functions of the prices of those respective commodities.

P = aPG B + aPG G + aPM M

Then where B, G, and M are functions of the prices of beef, gasoline, and miscellaneous, respectively, and aPB, aPG, and aPM are constant coefficients defining the amount by which each of the functions B, G, and M affect the sales, P, of petroleum products. We are assuming that B, G, and M are variables independent of each other.

If the availability or price of gasoline is suddenly changed, then G must be replaced by G + G. This causes a change in the petroleum sales from P to P + P. Also we will assume that B and M remain constant when G changes to G + G.

(P + P) = aPB B + aPG (G + G) + aPMM.

Expanding upon this expression, we get

P + P = aPB B + aPG G + aPG G + aPM M

and subtracting the original value of P we get for the change in P

Change in P = P = aPG G

Dividing by G we get

aPG = P / G .

This is a rate of change in P due only to an isolated change in G, G.

In general, ajk is the partial rate of change in the sales effect j due to a change in the causal price function of commodity k. If the interval of time were infinitesimal, this expression would be reduced to the definition of the total differential of a function, P.

equation

When the price of gasoline is shocked, all of the coefficients with round G (2G) in the denominator are evaluated at the same time. If B, G, and M were independent, and sufficient for description of the economy, then three shock tests would be necessary to evaluate the system.

There are other factors which may be represented the same way.

For example, the tendency of a docile sub-nation to withdraw under economic pressure may be given by

equation

where G is the price of gasoline, WP is the dollars spent per unit time (referenced to say 1939) for war production during ‘peace’ time, etc. These quantities are presented to a computer in matrix format as follows:

equation

and

X1 = G Y1 = P – KP
X2 = B Y2 = F – KF
X3 = etc. Y3 = etc.

Finally, inverting this matrix, i.e., solving for the Xk terms of the Yj, we get, say,

[bkj] [Yj ] = [Xk] .

This is the result into which we substitute to get that set of conditions of prices of commodities, bad news on TV, etc., which will deliver a collapse of public morale ripe for take over.

Once the economic price and sales coefficients ajk and bkj are determined, they may be translated into the technical supply and demand coefficients gjk, Cjk, and 1/Ljk.

Shock testing of a given commodity is then repeated to get the time rate of change of these technical coefficients.

Introduction to Economic Amplifiers

Economic amplifiers are the active components of economic engineering. The basic characteristic of any amplifier (mechanical, electrical, or economic) is that it receives an input control signal and delivers energy from an independent energy source to a specified output terminal in a predictable relationship to that input control signal.

The simplest form of an economic amplifier is a device called advertising.

If a person is spoken to by a T.V. advertiser as if he were a twelve-year-old, then, due to suggestibility, he will, with a certain probability, respond or react to that suggestion with the uncritical response of a twelve-year-old and will reach into his economic reservoir and deliver its energy to but that product on impulse when he passes it in the store.

An economic amplifier may have several inputs and output. Its response might be instantaneous or delayed. Its circuit symbol might be a rotary switch if its options are exclusive, qualitative, "go" or "no-go", or it might have its parametric input/output relationships specified by a matrix with internal energy sources represented.

Whatever its form might be, its purpose is to govern the flow of energy from a source to an output sink in direct relationship to an input control signal. For this reason, it is called an active circuit element or component.

Economic Amplifiers fall into classes called strategies, and, in comparison with electronic amplifiers, the specific internal functions of an economic amplifier are called logistical instead of electrical.

Therefore, economic amplifiers not only deliver power gain but also, in effect, are used to cause changes in the economic circuitry.

In the design of an economic amplifier we must have some idea of at least five functions, which are:

  1. the available input signals
  2. the desired output-control objectives,
  3. the strategic objective,
  4. the available economic power sources,
  5. the logistical options.

The process of defining and evaluating these factors and incorporating the economic amplifier into an economic system has been popularly called game theory.

The design of an economic amplifier begins with a specification of the power level of the output, which can range from personal to national. The second condition is accuracy of response, i.e., how accurately the output action is a function of the input commands. High gain combined with strong feedback helps to deliver the required precision.

Most of the error will be in the input data signal. Personal input data tends to be specified, while national input data tends to be statistical.

Diversion, the Primary Strategy

Experience has prevent that the simplest method of securing a silent weapon and gaining control of the public is to keep the public undisciplined and ignorant of the basic system principles on the one hand, while keeping them confused, disorganized, and distracted with matters of no real importance on the other hand.

This is achieved by:

  • disengaging their minds; sabotaging their mental activities; providing a low-quality program of public education in mathematics, logic, systems design and economics; and discouraging technical creativity.
  • engaging their emotions, increasing their self-indulgence and their indulgence in emotional and physical activities, by:
    • unrelenting emotional affrontations and attacks (mental and emotional rape) by way of constant barrage of sex, violence, and wars in the media – especially the T.V. and the newspapers.
    • giving them what they desire – in excess – "junk food for thought" – and depriving them of what they really need.

  • rewriting history and law and subjecting the public to the deviant creation, thus being able to shift their thinking from personal needs to highly fabricated outside priorities.

These preclude their interest in and discovery of the silent weapons of social automation technology.

The general rule is that there is a profit in confusion; the more confusion, the more profit. Therefore, the best approach is to create problems and then offer solutions.

Diversion Summary

Media: Keep the adult public attention diverted away from the real social issues, and captivated by matters of no real importance.

Schools: Keep the young public ignorant of real mathematics, real economics, real law, and real history.

Entertainment: Keep the public entertainment below a sixth-grade level.

Work: Keep the public busy, busy, busy, with no time to think; back on the farm with the other animals.

Consent, the Primary Victory

A silent weapon system operates upon data obtained from a docile public by legal (but not always lawful) force. Much information is made available to silent weapon systems programmers through the Internal Revenue Service. (See Studies in the Structure of the American Economy for an I.R.S. source list.)

This information consists of the enforced delivery of well-organized data contained in federal and state tax forms, collected, assembled, and submitted by slave labor provided by taxpayers and employers.

Furthermore, the number of such forms submitted to the I.R.S. is a useful indicator of public consent, an important factor in strategic decision making. Other data sources are given in the Short List of Inputs.

Consent Coefficients – numerical feedback indicating victory status. Psychological basis: When the government is able to collect tax and seize private property without just compensation, it is an indication that the public is ripe for surrender and is consenting to enslavement and legal encroachment. A good and easily quantified indicator of harvest time is the number of public citizens who pay income tax despite an obvious lack of reciprocal or honest service from the government.

Amplification Energy Sources

The next step in the process of designing an economic amplifier is discovering the energy sources. The energy sources which support any primitive economic system are, of course, a supply of raw materials, and the consent of the people to labor and consequently assume a certain rank, position, level, or class in the social structure, i.e., to provide labor at various levels in the pecking order.

Each class, in guaranteeing its own level of income, controls the class immediately below it, hence preserves the class structure. This provides stability and security, but also government from the top.

As time goes on and communication and education improve, the lower-class elements of the social labor structure become knowledgeable and envious of the good things that the upper-class members have. They also begin to attain a knowledge of energy systems and the ability to enforce their rise through the class structure.

This threatens the sovereignty of the elite.

If this rise of the lower classes can be postponed long enough, the elite can achieve energy dominance, and labor by consent no longer will hold a position of an essential energy source.

Until such energy dominance is absolutely established, the consent of people to labor and let others handle their affairs must be taken into consideration, since failure to do so could cause the people to interfere in the final transfer of energy sources to the control of the elite.

It is essential to recognize that at this time, public consent is still an essential key to the release of energy in the process of economic amplification.

Therefore, consent as an energy release mechanism will now be considered.

Logistics

The successful application of a strategy requires a careful study of inputs, outputs, the strategy connecting the inputs and the outputs, and the available energy sources to fuel the strategy. This study is called logistics.

A logistical problem is studied at the elementary level first, and then levels of greater complexity are studied as a synthesis of elementary factors.

This means that a given system is analyzed, i.e., broken down into its subsystems, and these in turn are analyzed, until by this process, one arrives at the logistical "atom," the individual.

This is where the process of synthesis propery begins, at the time of birth of the individual.

The Artificial Womb

From the time a person leaves its mother’s womb, its every effort is directed towards building, maintaining, and withdrawing into artificial wombs, various sorts of substitute protective devices or shells.

The objective of these artificial wombs is to provide a stable environment for both stable and unstable activity; to provide a shelter for the evolutionary processes of growth and maturity – i.e., survival; to provide security for freedom and to provide defensive protection for offensive activity.

This is equally true of both the general public and the elite. However, there is a definite difference in the way each of these classes go about the solution of problems.

The Political Structure of a Nation – Dependency

The primary reason why the individual citizens of a country create a political structure is a subconscious wish or desire to perpetuate their own dependency relationship of childhood. Simply put, they want a human god to eliminate all risk from their life, pat them on the head, kiss their bruises, put a chicken on every dinner table, clothe their bodies, tuck them into bed at night, and tell them that everything will be alright when they wake up in the morning.

This public demand is incredible, so the human god, the politician, meets incredibility with incredibility by promising the world and delivering nothing. So who is the bigger liar? the public? or the "godfather"?

This public behavior is surrender born of fear, laziness, and expediency. It is the basis of the welfare state as a strategic weapon, useful against a disgusting public.

Action/Offense

Most people want to be able to subdue and/or kill other human beings which disturb their daily lives, but they do not want to have to cope with the moral and religious issues which such an overt act on their part might raise. Therefore, they assign the dirty work to others (including their own children) so as to keep the blood off their hands. They rave about the humane treatment of animals and then sit down to a delicious hamburger from a whitewashed slaughterhouse down the street and out of sight. But even more hypocritical, they pay taxes to finance a professional association of hit men collectively called politicians, and then complain about corruption in government.

Responsibility

Again, most people want to be free to do the things (to explore, etc.) but they are afraid to fail.

The fear of failure is manifested in irresponsibility, and especially in delegating those personal responsibilities to others where success is uncertain or carries possible or created liabilities (law) which the person is not prepared to accept. They want authority (root word – "author"), but they will not accept responsibility or liability. So they hire politicians to face reality for them.

Summary

The people hire the politicians so that the people can:

  • obtain security without managing it.
  • obtain action without thinking about it.
  • inflict theft, injury, and death upon others without having to contemplate either life or death.
  • avoid responsibility for their own intentions.
  • obtain the benefits of reality and science without exerting themselves in the discipline of facing or learning either of these things.

They give the politicians the power to create and manage a war machine to:

  • provide for the survival of the nation/womb.
  • prevent encroachment of anything upon the nation/womb.
  • destroy the enemy who threatens the nation/womb.
  • destroy those citizens of their own country who do not conform for the sake of stability of the nation/womb.

Politicians hold many quasi-military jobs, the lowest being the police which are soldiers, the attorneys and C.P.A.s next who are spies and saboteurs (licensed), and the judges who shout orders and run the closed union military shop for whatever the market will bear. The generals are industrialists. The "presidential" level of commander-in-chief is shared by the international bankers. The people know that they have created this farce and financed it with their own taxes (consent), but they would rather knuckle under than be the hypocrite.

Thus, a nation becomes divided into two very distinct parts, a docile sub-nation [great silent majority] and a political sub-nation. The political sub-nation remains attached to the docile sub-nation, tolerates it, and leaches its substance until it grows strong enough to detach itself and then devour its parent.

System Analysis

In order to make meaningful computerized economic decisions about war, the primary economic flywheel, it is necessary to assign concrete logistical values to each element of the war structure – personnel and material alike.

This process begins with a clear and candid description of the subsystems of such a structure.

The Draft (As military service)

Few efforts of human behavior modification are more remarkable or more effective than that of the socio-military institution known as the draft. A primary purpose of a draft or other such institution is to instill, by intimidation, in the young males of a society the uncritical conviction that the government is omnipotent. He is soon taught that a prayer is slow to reverse what a bullet can do in an instant. Thus, a man trained in a religious environment for eighteen years of his life can, by this instrument of the government, be broken down, be purged of his fantasies and delusions in a matter of mere months. Once that conviction is instilled, all else becomes easy to instill.

Even more interesting is the process by which a young man’s parents, who purportedly love him, can be induced to send him off to war to his death. Although the scope of this work will not allow this matter to be expanded in full detail, nevertheless, a coarse overview will be possible and can serve to reveal those factors which must be included in some numerical form in a computer analysis of social and war systems.

We begin with a tentative definition of the draft.

The draft (selective service, etc.) is an institution of compulsory collective sacrifice and slavery, devised by the middle-aged and elderly for the purpose of pressing the young into doing the public dirty work. It further serves to make the youth as guilty as the elders, thus making criticism of the elders by the youth less likely (Generational Stabilizer). It is marketed and and sold to the public under the label of "patriotic = national" service.

Once a candid economic definition of the draft is achieved, that definition is used to outline the boundaries of a structure called a Human Value System, which in turn is translated into the terms of game theory. The value of such a slave laborer is given in a Table of Human Values, a table broken down into categories by intellect, experience, post-service job demand, etc.

Some of these categories are ordinary and can be tentatively evaluated in terms of the value of certain jobs for which a known fee exists. Some jobs are harder to value because they are unique to the demands of social subversion, for an extreme example: the value of a mother’s instruction to her daughter, causing that daughter to put certain behavioral demands upon a future husband ten or fifteen years hence; thus, by suppressing his resistance to a perversion of a government, making it easier for a banking cartel to buy the State of New York in, say, twenty years.

Such a problem leans heavily upon the observations and data of wartime espionage and many types of psychological testing. But crude mathematical models (algorithms, etc.) can be devised, if not to predict, at least to predeterminate these events with maximum certainty. What does not exist by natural cooperation is thus enhanced by calculated compulsion. Human beings are machines, levers which may be grasped and turned, and there is little real difference between automating a society and automating a shoe factory.

These derived values are variable. (It is necessary to use a current Table of Human Values for computer analysis.) These values are given in true measure rather than U.S. dollars, since the latter is unstable, being presently inflated beyond the production of national goods and services so as to give the economy a false kinetic energy ("paper" inductance).

The silver value is stable, it being possible to buy the same amount with a gram of silver today as it could be bought in 1920. Human value measured in silver units changes slightly due to changes in production technology.

Enforcement

Factor I

As in every social system approach, stability is achieved only by understanding and accounting for human nature (action/reaction patterns). A failure to do so can be, and usually is, disastrous.

As in other human social schemes, one form or another of intimidation (or incentive) is essential to the success of the draft. Physical principles of action and reaction must be applied to both internal and external subsystems.

To secure the draft, individual brainwashing/programming and both the family unit and the peer group must be engaged and brought under control.

Factor II – Father

The man of the household must be housebroken to ensure that junior will grow up with the right social training and attitudes. The advertising media, etc., are engaged to see to it that father-to-be is pussy-whipped before or by the time he is married. He is taught that he either conforms to the social notch cut out for him or his sex life will be hobbled and his tender companionship will be zero. He is made to see that women demand security more than logical, principled, or honorable behavior.

By the time his son must go to war, father (with jelly for a backbone) will slam a gun into junior’s hand before father will risk the censure of his peers, or make a hypocrite of himself by crossing the investment he has in his own personal opinion or self-esteem. Junior will go to war or father will be embarrassed. So junior will go to war, the true purpose not withstanding.

Factor III – Mother

The female element of human society is ruled by emotion first and logic second. In the battle between logic and imagination, imagination always wins, fantasy prevails, maternal instinct dominates so that the child comes first and the future comes second. A woman with a newborn baby is too starry-eyed to see a wealthy man’s cannon fodder or a cheap source of slave labor. A woman must, however, be conditioned to accept the transition to "reality" when it comes, or sooner.

As the transition becomes more difficult to manage, the family unit must be carefully disintegrated, and state-controlled public education and state-operated child-care centers must be become more common and legally enforced so as to begin the detachment of the child from the mother and father at an earlier age. Inoculation of behavioral drugs [Ritalin] can speed the transition for the child (mandatory). Caution: A woman’s impulsive anger can override her fear. An irate woman’s power must never be underestimated, and her power over a pussy-whipped husband must likewise never be underestimated. It got women the vote in 1920.

Factor IV – Junior

The emotional pressure for self-preservation during the time of war and the self-serving attitude of the common herd that have an option to avoid the battlefield – if junior can be persuaded to go – is all of the pressure finally necessary to propel Johnny off to war. Their quiet blackmailings of him are the threats: "No sacrifice, no friends; no glory, no girlfriends."

Factor V – Sister

And what about junior’s sister? She is given all the good things of life by her father, and taught to expect the same from her future husband regardless of the price.

Factor VI – Cattle

Those who will not use their brains are no better off than those who have no brains, and so this mindless school of jelly-fish, father, mother, son, and daughter, become useful beasts of burden or trainers of the same.

Please allow us to introduce yet another Canadian Veteran who has unfortunately encountered far too many delayed obligations in attempting to maintain survival in this country due to the lack of concern of the current Harper Government and previous Canadian Governments. This letter was sent to us and outlines the details in his own words. ~Editors

1. This veteran has served in the Canadian Forces (CF) on 3 separate ‘tours of duty’ with the last tour, as a training Combat Systems Engineer in the Canadian Navy, providing the rationale for my spinal cord injuries and ensuing disability pension claims. These claims remain ignored by Veterans Affairs (VA) and several other government departments.

2. In my last tour of duty at Esquimalt, B.C., I was billeted to HMCS Qu’Appelle where I injured my spinal cord at three levels, subsequent to a fall in the showers onboard that same warship. Upon release from the Canadian Navy in 1993, I was assessed by a qualified medical general practitioner (GP named Dr. R.A. Killeen), in Lower Sackville, NS, who immediately identified a C5/C6 radiculopathy (occurring from one of the spinal cord injuries) which had resulted from the accidental fall onboard the HMCS Qu’Appelle. This same GP referred me for assessment initially to a diagnostic service in Halifax (i.e., spinal cord MRI), an orthopaedic surgeon, a neurosurgeon, and an internal medicine specialist. All of these graduates and post-graduates in medicine agreed that my three levels of spinal cord injuries (i.e., C5/C6; T11/T12 & L2/L3) most likely were the result of my previously described accidental fall when serving and training onboard the HMCS Qu’Appelle.

3. Beginning in March 1996, and continuing to this year (2011), I applied for a disability pension with the Veterans Review and Appeal Board (VRAB; Note: initially this pension was applied for in 1994, but delayed due to typical precursory and unfounded ‘excuses’ on the part of the VRAB). The VRAB ruled on (allegedly) ten separate occasions over the next 15 years against my application for a disability pension. I was accordingly forced to bring the VRAB into the Trial Division of the Federal Court (Fed. Ct.) on six separate occasions (Fed. Ct. case # T-157-98, T-2137-99; T-67-03; T-401-05 & T-617-09).

4. I submitted several letters/reports/etc. by graduates and post-graduates (in associated fields of internal medicine, neurology and orthopaedic surgery) in support of my claims in all of these cases which were brought before the Fed. Ct. Note that none of these submissions by professional graduates of medicine were contradicted by testimonies from similar medical professionals on the part of the VRAB.

5. The Hon. Mr. Justice Phelan (Fed. Ct. case #T-617-09) decided: “THIS COURT’S JUDGMENT is that the application for judicial review is granted and the Appeal Board’s decision is quashed.” Unfortunately, such a ruling did nothing more than refer the same matter back to the Respondent (e.g., Veterans’ Affairs), thus prolonging the history of this veteran’s claims and thereby moving these same claims from the ridiculous to the sublime, as far as the actual service of justice to this veteran is concerned.

6. The Bureau of Pensioners’ Advocates presented this veteran’s case to the VRAB on July 6, 2011 and the VRAB provided a decision applicable to this same latest presentation of my case dated July 5, 2011 (i.e., one day prior to the actual presentation of this veteran’s claims to the VRAB). Such pre-emptive decisions and complete lack of fair and due process, has been the ‘ear mark’ of the VRAB’s alleged handling of this veteran’s claims over the past 17 years …. not to mention the similar manner in which this same Fed. govt dept. has ignored it’s legislated obligations to other veterans, their spouses and dependants.

7. While successive Canadian governments have done nothing towards assisting this veteran towards obtaining the necessary medical attention required to address his spinal cord injuries (at a current cost of $48,000.00 [US] / one-month treatment session in Beijing, China, the only treatment centre in this world for these types of injuries, with the current medical estimate requiring between 18 and 21 one-month treatment sessions), when do you expect that a Canadian government will both recognize it’s legislated obligation to this veteran?

8. Which countries, if any, of this world are willing to countinue trading with Canada which has demonstrated itself in the above facts and paragraphs to be: a) deceitful; b) disreputable; and c) unlawful in disregarding it’s legislated obligations to both this veteran and his family, along with thousands of other veterans, their spouses and dependants?

9. The critical and unanswered question, after 17+ years of seeking a settlement with the VRAB remains: “If this is the manner in which successive Canadian governments (including the present one) have treated men and women who have placed their lives on the line for these same Canadian governments, to what extent are these same travesties in justice being forced on all Canadian citizens with or without their knowledge of these same unlawful transgressions?”

10. If the Canadian government can so ‘flippantly’ dismiss and / or ignore it’s legislated obligation to the men and women who have placed their lives ‘on the line’ (so to speak) for this country, in what other sordid manner is that same government flippantly dismissing it’s legislated obligations to all Canadians? The more we share these facts, the quicker we can solve this problem by replacing our government officials.

Yours truly,

WikiLeaks Press Statement: WikiLeaks vs the Banks

WikiLeaks has published the biggest leaks in journalistic history. This has triggered aggressive retaliation from powerful groups. Since 7th December 2010 an arbitrary and unlawful financial blockade has been imposed by Bank of America, VISA, MasterCard, PayPal and Western Union. The attack has destroyed 95% of our revenue. The blockade came into force within ten days of the launch of Cablegate as part of a concerted US-based, political attack that included vitriol by senior right wing politicians, including assassination calls against WikiLeaks staff. The blockade is outside of any accountable, public process. It is without democratic oversight or transparency. The US government itself found that there were no lawful grounds to add WikiLeaks to a US financial blockade. But the blockade of WikiLeaks by politicized US finance companies continues regardless.

This Land Is Your (Occupied) Land

Published by Rebecca Solnit via Tomdispatch.com | ©

The other day in my Manhattan neighborhood, a woman passed me in the street. She was obviously headed for a demonstration somewhere in the big city, with a sign tucked sideways under her arm. I could just make out the large black letters on a white background that said: “I Want My Job Back.” And they claim the Occupy Wall Street demonstrators have no demands!

Here are a few observations from recent trips to Zuccotti Park and various marches I’ve been on, including last Saturday when the Occupy movement went global with, the Washington Post reports, rallies in “more than 900” cities in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the United States. Having been at many demonstrations in my life, here’s the strangest and perhaps the most striking thing I’ve noticed: I have yet to see a single counterdemonstration, or even a single counterdemonstrator. Not one. Nor a single sign expressing disapproval, outrage, or upset with the Occupy Wall Street movement. This, believe me, is not normal for protests. Talk about expressing the will of the 99%!

And the earliest public opinion polls reflect this. According to an Ipsos poll, a startling 82% of Americans have heard of the movement, striking percentages are following it with some attention, and — according to TIME magazine — 54% of Americans have a favorable view of it, only 23% an unfavorable one. Perhaps this shouldn’t be surprising in a country in which 86% of those polled believe “Wall Street and its lobbyists have too much influence in Washington,” or in which median household income fell by 6.7% after the Great Recession of 2008 was officially declared over (9.8% since it began).

I was at the edge of Zuccotti Park the other day when members of SEIU 32BJ, the building workers union, arrived, a sea of yellow T-shirts and signs. With a new contract on the horizon, they had been demonstrating on their own in the Wall Street area and decided “spontaneously” — so several told me — to march to the park. (As one SEIU organizer put it, “Our members really get it, the connection between this and us.”) The energy was sky-high, the excitement palpable, the chanting and cheering loud as they looked down on what could only be described visually as a hippie encampment.

Had this been the 1960s, conflict would undoubtedly have followed. I found myself with a burly white guy wearing a red Communications Workers of America T-shirt on one side of me and a young black woman with a yellow SEIU T-shirt on the other. He promptly commented with indignation and accuracy: “You know, we were saying the 1% and the 99% for like five years and nobody paid attention because we’re unions, we’re the wallpaper!” I braced myself for the coming diatribe against the Zuccotti Park protesters for appropriating the slogan and grabbing the glory. Instead, he continued with unmistakable enthusiasm, “You know, it’s great that these kids have taken it and put it on the map!” At which point the young woman next to me chimed in with equal enthusiasm, “It’s not just the unions any more! It’s bigger than that!”

It is bigger and could be bigger yet, 900 cities or not. It could explode in all sorts of unknown directions in all sorts of unexpected places. This weekend, at another spot, I listened to a group of young people from local colleges, for instance, talking soberly about the possibility of taking over campus buildings, only to be drowned out by arriving marchers powered by drums chanting, “We are unstoppable! Another world is possible!” In that same crowd, amid varied signs (“Arab Spring, European Summer, American Fall, Chinese Winter,” “Mink Coats Don’t Trickle Down”) was one that said, “My dad works for Wall Street and I’m taking a stand” — and she was.

Whatever other worlds are possible, no one at TomDispatch has pointed longer or more vigorously to the remarkable possibilities that lurk in our present world, in our moment, in ourselves than Rebecca Solnit, who long ago saw the hope that lay “in the dark” and whose moment this has to be. Tom

Letter to a Dead Man About the Occupation of Hope

By Rebecca Solnit Originally posted at 10:13am, October 18, 2011

Dear young man who died on the fourth day of this turbulent 2011, dear Mohammed Bouazizi,

I want to write you about an astonishing year — with three months yet to run. I want to tell you about the power of despair and the margins of hope and the bonds of civil society.

I wish you could see the way that your small life and large death became a catalyst for the fall of so many dictators in what is known as the Arab Spring.

We are now in some sort of an American Fall. Civil society here has suddenly hit the ground running, and we are all headed toward a future no one imagined when you, a young Tunisian vegetable seller capable of giving so much, who instead had so much taken from you, burned yourself to death to protest your impoverished and humiliated state.

You lit yourself on fire on December 17, 2010, exactly nine months before Occupy Wall Street began. Your death two weeks later would be the beginning of so much. You lit yourself on fire because you were voiceless, powerless, and evidently without hope. And yet you must have had one small hope left: that your death would have an impact; that you, who had so few powers, even the power to make a decent living or protect your modest possessions or be treated fairly and decently by the police, had the power to protest. As it turned out, you had that power beyond your wildest dreams, and you had it because your hope, however diminished, was the dream of the many, the dream of what we now have started calling the 99%.

And so Tunisia erupted and overthrew its government, and Egypt caught fire, as did Bahrain, Syria, Yemen, and Libya, where the nonviolent protests elsewhere turned into a civil war the rebels have almost won after several bloody months. Who could have imagined a Middle East without Ben Ali of Tunisia, without Mubarak, without Gaddafi? And yet here we are, in the unimaginable world. Again. And almost everywhere.

Japan was literally shaken loose from its plans and arrangements by the March 11th earthquake and tsunami, and that country has undergone profound soul-searching about values and priorities. China is turbulent, and no one knows how much longer the discontent of the repressed middle class and the hungry poor there will remain containable. India: who knows? The Saudi government is so frightened it even gave women a few new rights. Syrians wouldn’t go home even when their army began to shoot them down. Crowds of up to a million Italians have been protesting austerity measures in recent months. The Greeks, well, if you’ve been following events, you know about the Greeks. Have I forgotten Israel? Huge demonstrations against the economic status quo there lasted all summer and into this fall.

As you knew at the outset, it’s all about economics. This wild year, Greece boiled over again into crisis with colossal protests, demonstrations, blockades, and outright street warfare. Icelanders continued their fight against bailing out the banks that sank their country’s economy in 2008 and continue pelting politicians with eggs. Their former prime minister may become the first head of state to face legal charges in connection with the global financial collapse. Spanish youth began to rise up on May 15th.

Distinctively, in so many of these uprisings the participants were not advocating for one party or a simple position, but for a better world, for dignity, for respect, for real democracy, for belonging, for hope and possibility — and their economic underpinnings. The Spanish young whose future had been sold out to benefit corporations and their 1% were nicknamed the Indignados, and they lived in the plazas of Spain this summer. Occupied Madrid, like Occupied Tahrir Square, preceded Occupy Wall Street.

In Chile, students outraged by the cost of an education and the profound inequities of their society have been demonstrating since May — with everything from kiss-ins to school occupations to marches of 150,000 or more. Forty thousand students marched against “education reform” in Colombia last week. And in August in Britain the young went on a rampage that tore up London, Birmingham, and dozens of other communities, an event that began when the police shot Mark Duggan, a dark-skinned 29-year-old Londoner. Young Britons had risen up more peaceably over tuition hikes the winter before. There, too, things are bleak and volatile — something I know you would understand. In Mexico, a beautiful movement involving mass demonstrations against the drug war has arisen, triggered by the death of another young man, and by the grief and vision of his father, leftwing poet Javier Cicilia.

The United States had one great eruption in Wisconsin this winter, when the citizenry occupied their state capitol building in Madison for weeks. Egyptians and others elsewhere on the planet called a local pizza parlor and sent pies to the occupiers. We all know the links. We’re all watching. So the Occupy movement has spilled over from Wall Street. Hundreds of occupations are happening all over the North America: in Oklahoma City and Tijuana, in Victoria and Fort Lauderdale.

The 99%

We are the 99% is the cry of the Occupy movement. This summer one of the flyers that helped launch the Occupy Wall Street protest read: “We, the 99%, call for an open general assembly Aug. 9, 7:30 pm at the Potato Famine Memorial NYC.” It was an assembly to discuss the September 17th occupation-to-come.

The Irish Hunger Memorial, so close to Wall Street, commemorates the million Irish peasants who starved in the 1840s, while Ireland remained a food-exporting country and the landed gentry continued to profit. It’s a monument to the exploitation of the many by the few, to the forces that turned some of our ancestors — including my mother’s four Irish grandparents — into immigrants, forces that are still pushing people out of farms, homes, nations, regions.

The Irish famine was one of the great examples of those disasters of the modern era that are not crises of scarcity, but of distribution. The United States is now the wealthiest country the world has ever known, and has an abundance of natural resources, as well as of nurses, doctors, universities, teachers, housing, and food — so ours, too, is a crisis of distribution. Everyone could have everything they need and the rich would still be rich enough, but you know that enough isn’t a concept for them. They’re greedy, and their 30-year grab for yet more has carved away at what’s minimally necessary for the survival and dignity of the rest of us. So the Famine Memorial couldn’t have been a more appropriate place for Occupy Wall Street to begin.

The 99%, those who starve during famines and lose their livelihoods and homes during crashes, were going to respond to the 1% who had been served so well by the Bush administration and by the era of extreme privatization it ushered in. As my friend Andy Kroll reported at TomDispatch, “The top 1% of earners enjoyed 65% of all income growth in America for much of the decade” just passed. “In 2010,” he added, “20.5 million people, or 6.7% of all Americans, scraped by with less than $11,157 for a family of four — that is, less than half of the poverty line.” You can’t get by on less than $1,000 a month in this country where a single visit to an emergency room can cost your annual income, a car twice that, and a year at a private college more than four times that.

Later in August came the website started by a 28-year-old New York City activist, we are the 99 percent, to which hundreds daily now submit photographs of themselves. Each of them also testifies to the bleak conditions they find themselves in, despite their hard work and educations which often left them in debt, despite the promises dangled before them that (if they played the game right) they’d be safe, housed, and living a part of that oversold dream.

It’s a website of unremitting waking nightmares, economic bad dreams that a little wealth redistribution would eliminate (even without eliminating the wealthy). The people contributing aren’t asking for luxuries. They would simply prefer not to be worked to death like so many nineteenth-century millworkers, nor to have their whole world come crashing down if they get sick. They want to survive with dignity, and their testimony will break your heart.

Mohammed Bouazizi, dead at 26, you to whom I’m writing, here is one of the recent posts at that site:

“I am 26 years old. I am $134,000 in debt. I started working at 14 years old, and have worked Full-Time since I turned 20. I work in I.T. and got laid off in July 2011. I was LUCKY, and found a job RIGHT AWAY: with a Pay Cut and MORE HOURS.
Now, I just found out that my Dad got laid off last week – after 18 YEARS with the same employer. I have debilitating (SP! Sorry!) O.C.D. and can’t take time away from work to get treatment because I can’t afford my mortgage payments if I don’t go to work, and I’m afraid I’ll lose my NEW job if I take time off!!! WE ARE THE 99%.”

Some of the people at we are the 99% offer at least partial views of their faces, but the young IT worker quoted above holds a handwritten letter so long that it obscures his face. Poverty obscures your face too. It obscures your talents, potential, even your distinctive voice, and if it goes deep enough, it eradicates you by degrees of hunger and degradation. Poverty is a creation of the systems against which people all over the planet are revolting this wild year of 2011. The Arab Spring, after all, was an economic revolt. What were all those dictatorships and autocracies for, if not to squeeze as much profit as possible out of subjugated populations — profit for rulers, profit for multinational corporations, profit for that 1%.

“We are not goods in the hands of politicians and bankers,” was the slogan of the first student protest called in Spain this year. Your beautiful generation, Mohammed Bouazizi, has arisen and is bringing the rest of us along, even here in the United States.

The People’s Microphone

Its earliest critics seemed to think that Occupy Wall Street was a lobbying group whose chosen task on this planet should be to create a package of realistic demands. In other words, they were convinced that the occupiers should become supplicants, asking the powerful for some kind of handout like college debt forgiveness. They were suggesting that a dream as wide as the sky be stuffed into little bottles and put up for sale. Or simply smashed.

In the same way, they wanted this movement to hurry up and appoint leaders, so that there would be someone to single out and investigate, pick off, or corrupt. At heart, however, this is a leaderless movement, an anarchist movement, catalyzed by the grace of civil society and the hard work of the collective. The Occupy movement — like so many movements around the world now — is using general assemblies as its form of protest and process. Its members are not facing the authorities, but each other, coming to know themselves, trying to give rise to the democracy they desire on a small scale rather than merely railing against its absence on a large scale.

These are the famous Occupy general assemblies in which decisions are made by consensus and, in the absence of amplification (by order of the New York City police), the people’s mike is used: those assembled repeat what is said as it’s said, creating a human megaphone effect. This is accompanied by a small vocabulary of hand gestures, which help people participate in the complex process of a huge group having a conversation.

In other words, the process is also the goal: direct democracy. No one can hand that down to you. You live direct democracy in that moment when you find yourself participating in civil society as a citizen with an equal voice. Put another way, the Occupiers are not demanding that something be given to them but formulating something new. That it involves no technology, not even bullhorns, is itself remarkable in this wired era. It’s just passionate people together — and then Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, text messages, emails, and online sites like this one spread the word, along with some print media, notably the Occupied Wall Street Journal.

The beauty and the genius of this movement in this moment is that it has found a way to define its needs and desires without putting limits on them that would automatically exclude so many. In doing so, it has spoken to nearly all of us.

There is the terrible rage at economic injustice that is shared by college students looking at a future of debt and overwork, as well as those who couldn’t afford college in the first place, by working people struggling ever harder for less, by the many who have no jobs and few prospects, by people forced out of their homes by the games banks play with mortgages and profits, and by everyone the catastrophe that is healthcare in this country has affected. And by the rest of us, furious on their behalf (and on our own).

And then there is the joyous hope that things could actually be different. That hope has been fulfilled a little in the way that an open-ended occupation has survived four weeks and more and turned into hundreds of Occupy actions around the country and marches in almost 1,000 cities around the world last Sunday, from Sydney to Tokyo to Santa Rosa. It speaks for so many; it speaks for the 99%; and it speaks clearly, so clearly that an ex-Marine showed up with a hand-lettered sign that said, “2nd time I’ve fought for my country, 1st time I’ve known my enemy.”

The climate change movement showed up at Occupy Wall Street, too. What’s blocking action on climate change is what’s blocking action on all the other issues that matter: it would cut into profits. Never mind the deep future, not when what’s at stake is quarterly earnings.

A dozen years ago, after the wildly successful revolt against neoliberal economic policy in Seattle, the slogan that stuck around was: “Another World Is Possible.” I was never sure about that one because in crucial places and ways that other world is already here. In a YouTube video of the New York occupation, however, I watched an old woman in a straw hat say, “We’re fighting for a society in which everyone is important.” What a beautiful summation! Could any demand be clearer than that? And could the ways in which people have no value under our current economic regime be more obvious?

What Is Your Occupation?

Occupy Wall Street. Occupy together. Occupy New Orleans, Portland, Stockton, Boston, Las Cruces, Minneapolis. Occupy. The very word is a manifesto, a position statement, and a position as well. For so many people, particularly men, their occupation is their identity, and when a job is lost, they become not just unemployed, but no one. The Occupy movement offers them a new occupation, work that won’t pay the bills, but a job worth doing. “Lost my job, found an occupation,” said one sign in the crowd of witty signs.

There is, of course, a bleaker meaning for the word occupation, as in “the U.S. is occupying Iraq.” Even National Public Radio gives the Dow Jones report several times a day, as though the rise and fall of the stock market had not long ago been decoupled from the rise and fall of genuine measures of wellbeing for the 99%. A small part of Wall Street, which has long occupied us as if it were a foreign power, is now occupied as though it were a foreign country.

Wall Street is a foreign country — and maybe an enemy country as well. And now it’s occupied. The way that Native Americans occupied Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay for 18 months four decades ago and galvanized a national Native American rights movement. You pick some place to stand, and when you stand there, you find your other occupation, as a member of civil society.

This May in Ohio, a group of Robin Hoods literally lowered a drawbridge they made so they could cross a “moat” around Chase Bank’s headquarters and invade its shareholders’ meeting. Forty Robin Hoods also showed up en masse last week in kayaks for a national mortgage bankers’ meeting in Chicago. Houses facing foreclosure are being occupied. Foreclosure is, of course, a way of turning people into non-occupants.

At this moment in history, occupation should be everyone’s occupation.

Baby Pictures of a Revolt

Young man whose despair gave birth to hope, no one knows what the future holds. When you set yourself afire almost ten months ago, you certainly didn’t know, nor do any of us know now, what the long-term outcome of the Arab Spring will be, let alone this American Fall. Such a movement arrives in the world like a newborn. Who knows its fate, or even whether it will survive to grow up?

It may be suppressed like the Prague Spring of 1968. It may go through a crazy adolescence like the French Revolution of 1789 and yet grow beyond its parents’ dreams. Radiant at birth, wreathed in smiles, it may become a stolid bourgeois citizen as did such movements in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and the reunited Germany after civil society freed those countries from totalitarianism.

It may grow up into turbulence as has the Philippines since its 1986 revolution ousted the kleptocracy of the Marcos family. Revolution may be assassinated young, the way the democratic government of Mohammed Mossadegh was in Iran in 1953, that of President Jacobo Arbenz in Guatemala in 1954, and President Salvador Allende’s Chilean experiment on September 11, 1973, all three in CIA-backed military coups. On behalf of the 1%.

Whether a human child or a child of history, we can’t know who or what it will become, but it’s still possible to grasp something about it by asking who or what it resembles. What does Occupy Wall Street look like? Well, its siblings born around the world this year, of course, and perhaps in some way the American civil rights movement that began in the 1950s.

There was a national uprising in the United States no less spontaneous in its formation during the great depression of the 1870s, but the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 was violent, while the Occupy movement is deeply imbued with the spirit and tactics of nonviolence. The last Great Depression, the one that began in 1929, created a host of radical movements, as well as the Hoovervilles of homeless people. There are family resemblances. The marches and actions against the coming invasion of Iraq on February 15, 2003, on all seven continents (yes, including Antarctica) are clearly kin. And the anti-corporate globalization movement is a godmother. And then there’s a sibling just a decade older.

Cousin 9/11

Zuccotti Park is just two blocks from Wall Street, and also just a block from Ground Zero, the site of the 9/11 attack. On that day, it was badly damaged. This September 21st, my dear friend Marina Sitrin wrote me from Occupy Wall Street: “There are people from more diverse backgrounds racially, more diverse age groups, including not just a few children here with their parents, and a number of working people from the area. In particular, some of the security guards from the 9.11 memorial, a block away have been coming by for lunch and chatting with people, as has a local group of construction workers.”

If the Arab Spring was the decade-later antithesis of 9/11, a largely nonviolent, publicly inclusive revolt that forced the Western world to get over its fearful fantasy that all young Muslims are terrorists, jihadis, and suicide bombers, then Occupy Wall Street, which began six days after the 10th anniversary of that nightmarish day in September, is the other half of 9/11 in New York. What was remarkable about that day 10 years ago is how calmly and beautifully everyone behaved. New Yorkers helped each other down those dozens of floors of stairs in the Twin Towers and away from the catastrophe, while others lined up to give blood, desperate to do something, anything, to participate, to be part of a newfound sense of community that arose in the city that day.

There was, for example, a huge commissary organized on Chelsea Piers that provided free food, medical supplies, and work equipment for the people at Ground Zero and also helped find housing for the displaced. It was not an official effort, but one that arose even more spontaneously than Occupy Wall Street, without leaders or institutions — and it was forcibly disbanded when the official organizations got their act together a few days later. Those who participated experienced a sense of democracy amid all the distress and sorrow, a tremendous joy in finding meaningful work and deep social connections, and a little temporary joy, as they often do in disaster.

When I began to study the history of urban disaster years ago, I found such unexpected exhibitions of that kind of joy again and again, uniting the generative moments of protests, demonstrations, revolts, and revolutions with the aftermath of some disasters. Even when the losses were terrible, the ways that people came together to meet the occasion were almost always inspiring.

Since I wrote A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities That Arise in Disaster, I have been asked again and again whether economic crisis begets the same kind of community as sudden disasters. It did in Argentina in 2001, when the economy crashed there. And it has now, in the streets of New York and many other cities, in 2011. A sign at Occupy San Francisco said, “IT’S TIME.” It is. It’s been time for a long time.

No Hope But in Ourselves

The birth of this moment was delayed three years. Argentinians reacted immediately to the 2001 crisis and to long-simmering grievances with an economy that had ground so many of them down even before the government froze all bank accounts and the economy crashed. On the other hand, our economy collapsed three years ago this month to headlines like “Capitalism is dead” in the business press. There was certainly some fury and outrage at the time, but the real reaction was delayed, or decoyed.

The outrage of the moment did, in fact, result in a powerful grassroots movement that focused on a single political candidate to fix it all for us, as he promised he would. It was a beautiful movement, a hopeful movement, much more so than its candidate. The movement got its lone candidate into the highest office in the land, where he remains today, and then walked away as though the job was done. It had just begun.

That movement could have fought the corporations, given us a real climate-change policy, and more, but it allowed itself to be disbanded as though one elected politician were the equivalent of ten million citizens, of civil society itself. It was a broad-based movement, of all ages and races, and I think it’s back, disillusioned with politicians and electoral politics, determined this time to do it for itself, beyond and outside the corroded arenas of institutional power.

I don’t know exactly who this baby looks like, but I know that who you look like is not who you will become. This unanticipated baby has a month behind it and a future ahead of it that none of us can see, but its birth should give you hope.

Love,

#Wikileaks And The #DRIC Smoking Guns (Part 1)

A Windsor Square Exclusive By: Ed Arditti | ©

I feel like the prospector who has been panning for gold forever and then finally hit the mother-lode to find gold nuggets! It has taken me just as long to find my treasure sifting through the sands of misinformation that have been put out for the last decade.

I am so sorry to do it to you again. This is an exceptionally long tale to tell and to discuss with you so I have broken it down into 2 parts. It is well worth your time to read both of them. I will post one part today and the balance tomorrow. I will give you, dear reader, the descriptive overview in this Article and all of the gory details with a full explanation to put everything in a context tomorrow.

I would suggest that you may want to read this over coffee or at lunch. Better yet, print both parts out and take them home with you and read them in the evening rather than watching one of those silly sitcoms or reality TV programs. You will want to take some time to absorb all that is being presented to you.

After all, don’t you want be amongst the first to know about the “smoking guns” that I found in Wikileaks about the border file!

I could have broken the Articles into many smaller parts to make the reading easier but then you would lose the full impact of the enormity of how we have all been played as fools for so many years! You need to read these two parts, especially Part 2, all at once.

Don’t feel too bad. The American Embassy people in Canada have been treated as suckers too so we are all in good company.

As far as I am concerned, I have found the conclusive proof in the Wikileaks documents that the decade-long border file including, and especially, about DRIC has all been a charade. There is no doubt in my mind about this whatsoever.

It is time to bring in the Auditor General from each of Canada and Ontario and their equivalents from Michigan and the United States to do a proper forensic audit on the border file. We need to know that we have received NO value for money for all of the millions of taxpayer dollars that we have spent on this extravaganza.

It has all been an expensive waste of money pretending to be a fair and objective exercise to determine the best alternative. It has all been pre-ordained as far as I am concerned and as you shall conclude as well I am sure.

We know that there has been at least $60 million or so spent on both sides of the River for consultants alone and I expect, if one adds in all the costs including the time of hundreds of bureaucrats on both sides of the river who contributed to this boondoggle, that the costs are many hundreds of millions taxpayer of dollars. What a scandal!

Perhaps instead we need a Royal Commission or a Judicial Inquiry with a Supreme Court of Canada judge as the lead or perhaps a Bi-national Commission with members from Canada and the United States to look into the border file.

We need a process to examine people under oath including up to the highest levels of our Governments and to ensure that there is full and complete disclosure of documents, all documents not just redacted ones or only the ones that the Governments want us to see. I just hope that after this Article comes out that the shredders do not start working overtime.

We need to know who is responsible and to make them accountable.

What a story this will tell too, most of it unbelievable in a Democratic society if I am right. All directed against one family too. This is high-powered stuff after all that has involved Presidents and Prime Ministers, Premiers and Governors, Government Departments and some Mayors too. Throw in security, national interest, power, money and greed and we have a blockbuster movie!

I now know that my theories that I have espoused over the years are very accurate. Still, I have barely scratched the surface. I have seen relatively nothing even with these documents. There is absolutely no doubt that there is so much more that is buried and hidden that would reveal the true story.

Wikileaks…over 250,000 documents in total.

” On Sunday 28th November 2010, WikiLeaks began publishing 251,287 leaked United States embassy cables, the largest set of confidential documents ever to be released into the public domain. The documents will give people around the world an unprecedented insight into the US Government’s foreign activities.”

Several thousand of those documents related to Canada. That was my starting point. Taxpayers in Canada and the United States owe a lot to this website just for the border file alone.

I have written several Articles already on the Wikileaks border documents I had found. I thought I had gone through all the relevant ones. After all, I searched for them one by one. But I was wrong. I missed the smoking guns on the border file. Until now, when I can disclose them to you, dear reader.

It was all Fate. I was looking for a particular document and lo and behold through the tool that I was using to search through those quarter million documents I found some relevant memos dealing with the border file that I had not seen before. Some were buried in a place I had never considered previously but there they were. Just waiting to be exposed to the readers of the Windsor Square.

It is no wonder that I thought that the US Embassy was naïve on the border file. As you shall see, they were hoodwinked, just as you and I were fooled. They were not given the facts so how could you expect much more from them. In addition, they accepted as gospel whatever they were told by Canadian officials. What a mistake. Frankly, Secretary Clinton, your Ottawa Embassy needs a wake-up call.

No doubt at all that Canada is in charge completely. Watch as their hatred of the Bridge Company has caused us all jeopardy as far as security goes.

Want proof that Canada is powerless against Moroun and that is why they are desperate for him to sell out even if it means demonizing him and his family, then read on? Now you will understand why the $550M offer had to be made by Canada even though Canada will never pay out a penny because of the loopholes in it. It explains the “friendship” between Transport Canada and MDOT.

Ex-Governor Granholm, I know that her new book is coming out. I can hardly wait to read it to see how she explains what she did in the border file as revealed here. Her fear of losing an election may have cost the region dearly and may have meant that Canada had strong leverage over her on the border file. Could Canada put the squeeze on her? If so, no wonder she was breathless. What will she say about P3s in her book? So far no one has commented on that.

The quiche maker and Spanky, why they had a role to play as well. I would like to find out how much of a role they played in the process after what I read. After all, remember this as part of a letter they sent out:

“Local MPPs Dwight Duncan and Sandra Pupatello sent a letter Thursday turning down an invitation to the Saturday meeting, citing the Members’ Integrity Act, which they say prohibits them from commenting “on specifics of any proposal for a new border access road, including GreenLink, before a final recommendation is selected by (DRIC).” (Windsor Star February 8, 2008)

Ahhh, the DRIC road. The shocking revelation that was obvious from the days of Sam Schwartz. I just needed confirmation and got it. It is the ultimate weapon against Moroun and it was planned years ago.

As far as the fair and objective and impartial DRIC process went, don’t make me gag. It was completely political. Matty Moroun never had a chance. Learn the real reason he lost out even though Canada should have issued permits so his new bridge would have been built by now.

Finally, shake your head in complete amazement about how and why the DRIC process was allowed to continue on for almost 6 years by now when, even after hearing the misinformation, DRIC should have been stopped cold in the US!

Oh, and from a local perspective, wait until you read what is said about our Mayor, Edgar (aka Eddie) Francis. This may help explain our economic mess.

That should pique your interest as the overview I trust. Now you want the details. There are not a lot of documents. I will give you the relevant excerpts from them and explain their significance as I go along. See you tomorrow! continued  »  Summary

#Wikileaks And The #DRIC Smoking Guns (The Summary)

A Windsor Square Exclusive By: Ed Arditti | ©

When we do something here at the Windsor Square that is original and not a reheated press release or bridge company blather, do we get any recognition from our media colleagues? Heck no, we don’t even get attribution.

Please don’t tell me that the Star just by coincidence happened to write a Wikileaks story after we broke the news at the Square first. But the difference, is that we reported the important parts of the Wikileaks story–the border fight between the Governments and the Moroun family– and did not focus on the insignificant, our Mayor, as the Star did.

Not the Star. They have ignored the important data because it shows that the Moroun family is correct in what they have been saying during all these years and that they have been demonized and terrorized by the DRIC-ites. They cannot permit the public to know that!

As for the Detroit media, they are just about as useless as well focusing on advertising rather than the real story and failing to denounce the Governments’ lack of information on financial viability of the DRIC project to the detriment of Michigan taxpayers.

I am sure that many of you have worked your way through the massive multi-page Article that I posted the other day. It is not easy going but I am certain that the read was well worth it to you. You will have learned things that were just as shocking to you as they were to me when I first discovered them.

Hidden and buried, out of the site of the public. Who would ever have known? Who knows what other treasures are just waiting to be uncovered? I am licking my lips in anticipation hoping that one day more of them will be revealed.

Yes I feel good too, vindicated notwithstanding all of the smears. Yes, I am going to say it, with all modesty of course:

“I WAS RIGHT!”

I could have provided a summary for you right at the beginning but I chose not to do so. As I said previously, I could have condensed it or spread it over several days to make it easier. However, if I did that, then you would not have felt the enormity of what has been perpetrated against the citizens of this region, Windsor/Detroit, over the past decade by the levels of Government involved. It is shocking and disgusting. And I merely scratched the surface of the hundreds or thousands of documents I am sure that are still out there, assuming that they have not yet been shredded by the Mandarins or politicians involved and their sycophants.

When you look at it objectively, they really didn’t care how much they destroyed this region for their own selfish objectives, whatever they really are. We suffered. It did not matter to them one little bit. So much for the crap that the crossing is the most important infrastructure project in North America so essential for our economies. If this was such an important project, then the second Ambassador Bridge would already been built.

There is a need for an inquiry, a bi-national one, to look into this matter as I have suggested. People need to be put under oath when answering questions so that they will do it honestly or go to jail for perjury. All documents must be produced even those at the highest level of Government so the citizens can learn how they had been mistreated and can see how our tax dollars were wasted.

Those responsible for this need to be brought to justice as well. They need to be held responsible and accountable. And if I am right, a lot of money needs to be paid back into the taxpayers pocketbooks.

Yet, this farce still goes on. Some people still believe that the DRIC Boondoggle make sense, people who ought to know better.

Not everyone will have the opportunity to read everything and in fact I expect that, if there is any publicity to what I have provided is given, it may deal with rather insignificant items e.g. the rather nasty opinion by some Government people about Windsor’s Mayor.

I thought therefore that it would make sense for me to summarize for you what the Wikileaks documents revealed. Here goes:

  • • Moroun is in the strongest position. He always has been. He knows it. Canada knows it. We suspected it. And thanks to Wikileaks, we all know it too!
  • • Canada is the one pushing this file. Canada is the one in control while the other Governmental levels play a peripheral role. It was Canada’s job to keep all of the various Governments united against the Bridge Company.
  • • Canada’s tactic was to demonize him to eliminate any support, especially from Michigan Legislators, and to terrorize him to force him to sell out cheaply. They assumed and gambled early on that there was no other way to do so and believed that if he had retired, his son would sell out in a “New York minute.”
  • • The US Federal Government has been extremely naïve in this matter accepting the words of DRIC-ites as gospel while at the same time they were being fed misinformation. One can easily conclude that the actions were deliberate. I trust now that the US Ambassador will ask his people to stop watching Canadian television and start doing some work on the border file.
  • • The position of the Bridge Company that they have exclusive rights in perpetuity to the corridor between Windsor/Detroit and that they are the only one who is legally entitled to build a bridge today is clearly correct and that no one Government, especially Canada, can negatively impact them. “all levels of government on both sides of the border would need to enact legislation in sync with each other.” That explains why Canada has been so desperate in Michigan even offering a $550 million inducement to get pro-Canada legislation passed even though the Canadian Government we now learn has not allocated a penny to this. It seems extremely likely now that DRIC was nothing more than a pressure ploy designed to terrorize the Bridge Company owner into selling out cheaply. It seems clear that Moroun e has stared down the Government of Canada. Is it any wonder now that the Governerd is talking about endrunning the Michigan Legislature? How else can Moroun be beaten!
  • • Notwithstanding the closed-door sessions and the misinformation given, the DRIC-ite desire to get concurrence of the Secretary of State to the central crossing, was never given. That was absolutely needed for a Presidential Permit. One would have thought that this should have ended the DRIC file years ago but instead, this matter was hidden and the DRIC file carried on for six more years. How much time effort and money has been wasted during this timeframe.
  • • No matter how much it cost and how many bodies it took, in the words of Margaret Thatcher’s speechwriter, Jenny had to remain Governor and would do whatever it took in order to do so. “What matters to them is: will I still be here after this?”
  • • Jenny’s unilateral killing of the downriver crossings were important for her electoral success but may have doomed this Region for a generation. When she made that decision, Canada had the perfect opportunity to kill off the Ambassador Bridge, took it and she could say nothing. After all: “Corradino said that, if the Canadian side rejects a potential site, the U.S. would also drop it.”
  • • So much for fair, impartial and objective Environmental Assessments in Canada and United States about the various crossings. It was all political, pre-determined long in advance.
  • • The DRIC road is nothing more than a power-play to put pressure on the Bridge Company. The whole discussion about a road to the bridge for years and the pretend feud between the various levels of Government in this area was all a giant charade. Its purpose had already been decided: “but suggested Canada,s major way to influence a possible twining of the bridge is by not providing the improved road infrastructure needed to feed the additional traffic onto the bridge.” So much for the $300 million Border Infrastructure Fund money. Now we know why was never used for its true purpose.
  • • Moroun has the right to build his bridge and the opposition and stalls to it were leverage moves to make him sell out: “He observed that the Canadian permitting process is similarly technical, noting that it may also be difficult for the Canadian government to avoid issuing a permit if/when they are asked [by the Bridge Company].”
  • • Take a look at Sandra’s and Dwight’s role in the Environmental Assessment process as well and just laugh yourself silly.
  • • The negative comments about the Mayor, read them for yourself. It makes a complete mockery of the Gord Henderson claim in his column in the Star on August 27, 2011 that Edgar (aka Eddie) is “the city’s most effective mayor since at least the Second World War.” Combine that with what mini-Gord wrote about how disastrous the situation is in this City and one wonders what his future can be.

There is no doubt in my mind that these shocking revelations will give rise to subsequent actions. Exactly what they may be, I do not know exactly but I can make certain assumptions as can you too, I am sure, dear reader.

What this will do to reputations especially I do not know. I do expect that certain people will be hurt badly by what is disclosed. Good! I do know that the Bridge Company people look like innocents compared. They are not the devils which some have tried to paint them.

How the sycophants will deal with this, I am not certain. My guess is that they will try to ignore it in the hope that it will go away and no one will read it. Maybe they are right, maybe that will happen. I hope not.

In the end though, whatever one wants to say, the reality is that we been lied to and deceived. By our Governments, by the people that we have elected and by those bureaucrats who are supposed to working in our interest. For reasons still unknown.

What troubles me the most is that if Governments can do this to someone as powerful as Matty Moroun, just think about what they can do to us.

That is the real legacy of these Wikileaks documents as far as I am concerned.

#Wikileaks And The #DRIC Smoking Guns (Part 2)

A Windsor Square Exclusive By: Ed Arditti | ©

Here are the key excerpts from the relevant documents as disclosed in Wikileaks.

There are relatively few documents but the story they tell is very disturbing. I try to put each one in a context for you and try to explain to you how everything fits together. I want you to be able to make sense of it all so that you will understand the significance.

I apologize. It is a very long and ugly read. But very essential. It is very disturbing when you cut through it all and see how Governments really operate. It is fascinating that such disclosures have been made. Clearly, no one in the public was ever expected to read this material so we can learn things that were to be kept secret from us. Tell the public one thing, act another way behind the scenes.

How can people act this way in a supposedly democratic society? How can they look at themselves in the mirror in the morning? How do they justify their actions?

Oh I get it, they are the “good guys” wearing the “white hats.” They are entitled to act this way. They have a noble cause and objective so everything done is not really bad; it’s excusable. You know, the end justifies the means. Can it really be that much of a power trip!

Economic nationalism goals for Canada and protecting ourselves against irrational US Protectionism. How worthy. Creating jobs by partnering with Asian and European countries using Canadian controlled ports, gateways and corridors so we can assemble and distribute products into the US and supposedly help Americans export their products too. Admirable. Allow the sale/lease of key assets to foreign P3 investors to bring in outrageous sums of money to help rebuild infrastructure. How innovative as long as no one figures out how all of this can be paid back without mortgaging our future.

Who cares what is said. It does not matter. There is no accountability, no responsibility. They know better. We just need to follow along, ignorantly, enjoying the pablum we are fed.

However, with the Wikileaks documents, we can see them for what they are. They let their hair down and we now can give the people responsible a real haircut for trying to deceive us!

As I suggested, read all of this when you have the time to give it your full attention. It will take your breath away at the enormity of it all.

This merely scratches the surface of what is out there. Imagine what is still hidden or perhaps even shredded by now. This is a huge story and more is yet to come. I can hardly wait until soemone, a person with principles, has had enough and gets the courage to speak out to make this entire boondoggle completely unravel.

October, 2005

  • Summary: Ontario Community and Social Services Minister Pupatello emphasized the importance the Ontario Government places on relations with the United States during an October 13 courtesy call the Consul General paid on her. Pupatello digressed from issues associated with her portfolio to raise her riding’s concern with Windsor-Detroit border crossing issues, to include expressing displeasure with premature statements by Michigan Governor Granholm regarding options taken off the table in the bi- national process…
  • Minister Pupatello stated that the Ontario Government was not pleased by Michigan Governor Granholm’s decision to publicly announce on October 4, on her own initiative, the Detroit River International Crossing Study decision to drop several border crossing options from the study. Pupatello complained that Granholm should at least have called Premier McGuinty to let him know what she intended to do. Ontario officials were also displeased that Granholm’s office subsequently delayed returning their calls on the issue while Michigan Department of Transportation official Mohammed Alghurabi continued to speak publicly on the issue throughout the week (Note: Premier McGuinty’s staff has also lodged this complaint. End Note.)…
  • She said Ontario would prefer that political leaders on both sides make decisions regarding the border crossing rather than engage in the bi-national process, but in the current litigious environment, she acknowledged this did not appear to be a viable option. The CG responded that waiting until 2013 would likely not reduce the number of lawsuits and asked if Pupatello had heard of the possibility of enacting omnibus legislation. Pupatello said that this might be necessary, but all levels of government on both sides of the border would need to enact legislation in sync with each other
  • She said Windsor currently had no voice at the federal level because Windsor’s NDP opposition MP has no influence in the federal government. The federal government was only engaged with local issues if it felt it could win the local riding. This situation meant she must be a stronger advocate for Windsor than would otherwise be normal for a provincial Minister.”

There it is. Right in front of you. As plain as the nose on your face. No wonder DRIC had to be invented.

The Canadian Government can do nothing about Moroun. If they could have done something, they would have done it years ago. We would not have to be involved in the charade known as the DRIC for the last decade as Minister Baird confirmed.

Exactly why not I do not know but I am sure that the Bridge Company does. There must be some legal reason that stops Canada cold. I suspect that it is hiding right in front of our noses and probably in the open too. And when it comes out one day, utter shock!

If Canada knows the reason and the Bridge Company knows the reason then I do not understand why we are playing this game. All that is being done is replaying the FIRA lawsuit. Nothing different is going to happen this time than happened last time.

I expect however, as I have said before, that the Canadian Government has completely misread and misunderstood the Moroun Family. They made the erroneous assumption, that was destroyed when that Globe and Mail 2 1/2 page spread came out several years ago, that the Moroun family would sell out and at a cheap price for fear that the Government would destroy the value of their business. Obviously, that did not happen.

Here is the key to what I mean:

*”[The CG] asked if Pupatello had heard of the possibility of enacting omnibus legislation. Pupatello said that this might be necessary, but all levels of government on both sides of the border would need to enact legislation in sync with each other

No one Government has the ability to force out the Bridge Company. After all, it operates in two countries. Its rights and obligations are those set out and granted by the Governments themselves which give the Bridge Company exclusivity in perpetuity forever, as the US Legal Scholar informed us, for the building and operation of a bridge in this area. No one, even the Governments, can build one on their own.

Someone raised the idea it seems, a trial balloon perhaps, that the Governments of Canada and the United States should join together to beat out the Moroun family. Obviously, there had been some discussion about it because a question was raised. I expect however that the answer, as Sandra said, was that the Governments would have to act in concert together to pass legislation that somehow would work and would not be illegal or unconstitutional.

I also make the assumption that this “omnibus legislation,” while discussed, was never going to happen. In my opinion, there is no way that a US President or the American Congress were going to be part of an action to force an American company out of business. Do you really think that the Americans were going to assist Canada to become a Cuba or Venezuela to injure one of their own! Where would it end? My recollection is that Canada did not want to pay a penny if the Bridge was expropriated/condemned.

That is why the strategy was developed to demonize the Moroun Family in order to eliminate supposedly any thought of anybody providing them with any kind of support whatsoever. Then, the idea was to terrorize the family into selling out because of the perceived sanctions that could have been imposed upon their operation of their business including setting up a competitor to them, DRIC, a competitor that would take away the vast majority of their traffic. Ergo, Bill C-3.

The assumption made was that the Morouns were smart businesspeople and would recognize that the value of their business could be destroyed or the business could even be bankrupted so that they would beg Canada to buy them out. They would be happy at whatever price that Canada offered. Moreover, Canada would then not be faced with a Dubai Ports type situation if they could show that the sale came from the initiative of the Morouns themselves.

What a joke we read as well in this document. How many times have we heard Canadian senior officials and politicians tell us how important our crossing is to the well-being of Canada and the United States. They didn’t mean it.

Oh, it is important, to them, for whatever reason. However, they could not care what happens to the people of this region whatsoever. We are merely pawns in their game. If they did care, we would not be fooling around with this border fiasco for a decade during the worst economic time of our history since the Great Depression. The new Ambassador Bridge and the road to the Ambassador Bridge would have been built years ago. We would be prospering today but for the Canadian Government.

All we are good for is voting in Jeff Watson as a Member of Parliament.

Poor Jenny. If you read the stories about the book that she has written that is just about to come out you will see how much she wanted to be re-elected as Governor of Michigan. It seems that she would do just about anything to make that happen:

  • *”Granholm considered dropping out in ’06, she reveals in book
(David Shepardson and Karen Bouffard Detroit News September 9, 2011
*Granholm says an ad harshly criticizing DeVos for creating jobs in China “drew blood. It offered no subtlety, no nuance, no shades of gray.” And she quotes Sun Tzu’s “Art of War:” “When your foot is on the throat of your enemy press harder.” Granholm adds: “So we pressed harder with a second crushing commercial.”

What else did she do? She eliminated unilaterally the downriver Michigan communities as possible border crossings. She had to do it. She would have lost a ton of votes if she had not. She needed those votes to be re-elected.

So much for the DRIC process being fair and objective and impartial. It was not. It was political. She played to win, to be re-elected. She did not care about process or the consequences of what she did. Staying in power is all that counted for a politician as Margaret Thatcher’s speech writer told us.

As you will read below, there was an agreement between Canada and the United States that if one of the sides did not want a crossing then the other side would go along with it. That is really why the Ambassador Bridge location was not picked even though it was identified as the best crossing on the American side. Canada did not want it for their games-playing to force out the Moroun family. And the Americans could not object but had to go along with it. (I suspect that it did not break MDOT’s heart either since they obviously hate the Bridge Company as well.)

In my opinion, once Jenny made her move, and you can see how angry Sandra was about it, then Canada “owned” her. She got what she wanted and fortuitously, Canada got what it wanted. And it cost Canada nothing to do so.

She did it to herself. Once she dismissed those communities, then she was obliged to do whatever Canada wanted. She acted first and thereby allowed Canada to get its shot in. She had no choice. She had to agree to whatever Canada wanted, no matter what or how much it would hurt the State.

That tells me a lot about why she was breathless and ran to the Michigan Legislature waving a letter in her hand about $550 million. She was desperate to build a legacy for herself and wanted the DRIC bridge to be that legacy. Again, Canada took advantage of the situation and gave her a supposed agreement that was nothing more than a Letter of Intent that was not binding legally whatsoever. A possible US Supreme Court Judge would surely know that!

Moreover, in her book apparently, since it is not yet been discussed by the media, she is going to be talking about P3s and how wonderful they are to salvage the infrastructure of the United States. What was the key P3 project that was going take place under her regime: the DRIC bridge.

Can you imagine if she had been able to get that P3 project going considering that the Governerd is about to make a speech about infrastructure spending and perhaps how to pay for it. I can just picture in my mind a whole army of foreign P3 companies or their lobbyists knocking on her door offering her all kinds of goodies hoping that she and her hubby would join up with them.

October, 2005

  • “Is A New Detroit River Crossing In The Cards?
  • The Detroit Free Press article was published one day after the latest meeting of the Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) Study, evaluating possible sites for a new border crossing (NOTE: PolOff attended the meeting and will send a report on its conclusions via septel. END NOTE). U.S. participants in the closed-door meeting noted that constructing a second span parallel to the existing Ambassador Bridge, would probably be acceptable from a U.S. standpoint, if the new crossing were publicly owned. But David Wake, from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, said he expects the Canadian side will shortly rule out this possibility for social and environmental reasons because it would result in an increased volume of truck traffic running on already congested local roads through downtown Windsor. DRIC meeting participants agreed that, if the bridge span twinning proposal is rejected by Canada, the U.S. side will drop it from consideration.
  • C) An Army Corps of Engineers representative at the DRIC meeting, said the Ambassador Bridge owners have in recent weeks come to the Corps offices in Detroit to discuss how to obtain the permit required to construct a second bridge span. She, and the Coast Guard representative at the meeting, noted that the U.S. permitting process is basically technical, rather than policy-oriented, and must be completed within 90 days (for the Coast Guard) and 120 days (for the Corps of Engineers). Wake said the bridge owners have been in similar discussions with Canadian government officials. He observed that the Canadian permitting process is similarly technical, noting that it may also be difficult for the Canadian government to avoid issuing a permit if/when they are asked.
  • Opening a new span on the Ambassador Bridge site could bring some benefits to the Detroit side of the river where a highway construction project will soon provide the needed road infrastructure to smoothly funnel additional cross-border traffic onto I-75. But adding a bridge span in downtown Windsor would present a difficult challenge for officials on the Canadian side of the river.”

How the US government was lied to is what comes out loud and clear in this document. I did not know that the location where cars and trucks came off the bridge onto Huron Church Road was part of “downtown Windsor.” That lie has been carried on for years from people who ought to know better.

Obviously, no one from the US Government has ever been to Windsor to know where our downtown is! Obviously, they are mixing up Edgar’s Tunnel with the Bridge! I know that the US Embassy people in Ottawa watch Canadian television but can’t they read a Canadian roadmap.

How interesting that if Canada says that the crossing should not go right beside the Ambassador Bridge, the Americans fall meekly along with it even though they determined that the Ambassador Bridge Location was the best on their side of the river. What a sell-out!

Here’s the part that I don’t understand at all:

“He observed that the Canadian permitting process is similarly technical, noting that it may also be difficult for the Canadian government to avoid issuing a permit if/when they are asked.”

What it clearly means to me is that the Bridge Company should have received all their permits from Canada already. They should have been able to build their bridge and in fact, it should have been finished by now.

Instead, Canada has been delaying them and delaying them and delaying them. For years. All in order to give Canada leverage to pretend to build a DRIC Bridge.

All of this gibberish that we have heard about the Bridge Company not meeting the EA requirements in Canada is clearly wrong. What is being done is nothing more than a stall to prevent them from building their Bridge.

And a publicly-owned second Ambassador Bridge, it’s ok as long as it is public. Now you know why Prime Minister Harper wanted to buy it and where he wants the second bridge to go. And why Canada must control the corridor. Keep those Americans off-balance too by pretending you want another crossing.

October, 2005 (a few days after the meeting above)

Update on Plans for New Detroit River Crossing

  • In a day-long closed-door session on October 19, 2005 in Detroit, Joe Corradino described to U.S. federal and state government officials (including Poloff) the status of the DRIC study of potential new border crossings and plaza sites on the U.S. side of the Detroit River (NOTE: The Corradino Group, a consultancy firm specializing in engineering, planning, and construction projects, is conducting the research and analysis and producing the U.S. version of the DRIC study under contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation. END NOTE). Corradino outlined how and why several potential crossings had been eliminated from the study in the past few months…
  • Corradino said that, if the Canadian side rejects a potential site, the U.S. would also drop it. David Wake, Windsor Project Coordinator for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, agreed that, if the U.S. side finds a potential crossing to be unacceptable, Canada would likewise no longer consider it.
  • ¶7. (SBU) Wake noted that Canadian experts, who are proceeding on a separate but parallel track, also agree that the central area under consideration is the most promising. Wake said the Canadians rank order the central area crossings differently, noting that the Ambassador Bridge site ranks poorly from a Canadian perspective because of the impact a new/additional plaza and more traffic on Huron Church Road would have on downtown Windsor (ref (B)).
  • ¶8. (SBU) U.S. and Canadian experts are focused on narrowing the range of potential crossing and plaza sites for a new publicly-funded crossing of the Detroit River…
  • Wake noted the Canadians are looking for 80 to 100 acre sites for plazas, per request of the Canadian Border Services Agency

*ACTION REQUEST: Department is requested to provide informal concurrence with the centrally-located practical alternatives for a future Detroit River Crossing by November 4 to James Kirschensteiner James.Kirschensteiner@fhwa.dot.gov) (NOTE: All involved federal and state government agencies — Department of
Homeland Security (Customs and Border Protection and Coast Guard), General Services Administration, Army Corps of Engineers, Interior Department (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service), the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Michigan Department of Transportation — have been asked to provide comments to the U.S. Department of Transportation by November 4.”

Remember how shocked I was at the naïveté of the US Embassy in Ottawa about the border file. It is no surprise to me now. They were given the same misinformation that everyone has been given to justify rejecting the Ambassador Bridge location as the best crossing.

In fact, if you will remember, the previous US Ambassador thought that the DRTP was a good short-term solution. I could never understand that but now I do.

In this meeting, DRTP was rejected. The poor fellow was misled about DRTP and thinking that it was a viable solution. He probably wasn’t told that MDOT rejected a similar concept many years before. All of this was part of the process as far as I’m concerned to put pressure on the Bridge Company to sell out cheaply, even involving the US Federal Government in helping to do so even if unknowingly. After all, the Bridge Company might not be all that concerned if Canada was opposed to them but might think seriously about selling out if both Canada and the United States were against them.

This document makes it clear that the border file is being run by Canada and MDOT with the Ontario Government (and Edgar) going along for the ride because they have no other choice anyway. It also didn’t hurt that the Minister of Finance in Ontario worked for the Federal Minister who was responsible for going after the Bridge Company in the FIRA matter.

First we read the nonsense about this gigantic plaza on the Canadian side that will destroy all of Sandwich. Yet we have learned recently that Canada Customs said that the existing Bridge Company Plaza is good for 25 years or more. It is no different than the gigantic plaza required at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron that all of a sudden shrunk dramatically in size when push came to shove and the US Federal Government ran out of money.

Remember when it was disclosed that the binational partnership people were using old maps when they considered what should be done in Windsor. Clearly, the Ontario Government is guilty of that since Dave Wake has no idea where traffic exits from the Ambassador Bridge. He thinks that traffic goes to Downtown Windsor as well! He tells that to the US Government people again.

Do you really believe that the Environmental Assessments on both sides of the River were done fairly and objectively and impartially. Don’t make me gag. It was all done politically not from an engineering perspective as this paragraph makes absolutely clear:

*“Corradino said that, if the Canadian side rejects a potential site, the U.S. would also drop it. David Wake, Windsor Project Coordinator for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, agreed that, if the U.S. side finds a potential crossing to be unacceptable, Canada would likewise no longer consider it.”

What a neat way to eliminate the Ambassador Bridge location even though the Americans had spent a quarter of $1 billion on the Ambassador Gateway project which was designed to accommodate a second Ambassador Bridge.

Jenny made it so easy for Canada to get its way too.

The other very interesting comment that was made is in relation to a “public” bridge. I was not aware that at this time any decision had been made whether the bridge should be public or private. Obviously, that decision had been made a long time before. All of this DRIC study was another charade designed to pretend that an objective study was being undertaken to eliminate both DRTP and the Ambassador Bridge Company which both just by the way happened to be private operators.

Here is a rather disingenuous comment also made in this memo designed clearly to mislead the US Government. If it was so easy for the Ambassador Bridge to get a permit, then why didn’t they have one:

*”They acknowledge that their rejection of a potential site would not preclude a private sector entrepreneur from requesting and obtaining the needed permits to construct and operate a new crossing without public sector financing (ref (B)). The twinning of the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit River Tunnel Partnership proposals could be constructed without public sector endorsement by the DRIC study.”

You will notice the Action Request. This is extremely significant:

*“Department is requested to provide informal concurrence with the centrally-located practical alternatives for a future Detroit River Crossing.”

Go back and take a look at this Blog that I wrote and the letter that I disclosed “May 12, 2006 President Bush’s Choice: The Twinned Ambassador Bridge”

That letter makes it absolutely clear that the concurrence requested, informal or otherwise, was not granted by the US Department of State on behalf of the President of the United States. No Presidential Permit was going to be issued and yet this DRIC fiasco has been carrying on for six more years. Why? I asked this question at the time which is just as relevant now especially in relation to what has been told to the US Embassy in Ottawa:

” THE QUESTION IS: HAVE THE BUREAUCRATS TOLD THEIR POLITICAL BOSSES WHAT THE US PRESIDENT HAS SAID? IF NOT, WHY ARE THEY STILL IN THEIR JOBS? IF THEY HAVE, THEN WHY ARE THE POLITICIANS STILL IN THEIRS!”

I am sure that you remember this document that I revealed some time ago quoting the Canadian Deputy Prime Minister. It was made in March 2005. It made no sense to me at the time. Now it does. It was all part of the process designed to mislead the US Government, to make it appear as if the DRIC process was a real one with objective results to be obtained:

“When discussion turned to the Windsor-Detroit Gateway and what seems to be a rather long lead time (until 2013) to actually implement any of the long-term solutions currently on the table, DPM McLellan warned that the USG and GOC should remain objective and not prejudge the five options currently being considered. She added that the process is underway (beginning with the announcement of contracts for environmental impact assessments) and should be allowed to move forward. The DPM and her staff suggested that President Bush and Prime Minister Martin should continue to underscore the importance for both nations of finding a solution to easing congestion at the Windsor-Detroit corridor. Agencies of both governments are currently implementing short-term solutions to meet the 25 Percent Challenge (to reduce transit times by 25 percent over 12 months) announced during the December 2004 Ridge-McLellan meetings.’

A terrific way to stall off the Americans don’t you think and to allow the Canadian process to go on to meet the Canadian objectives and timetable! No point in having the US Federal Government mess in. All the they were required to do was to put up a couple of hundred million dollars for the US Customs facilities on the US side. Otherwise, this was a Canada/MDOT enterprise.

PROPOSED DETROIT WINDSOR TUNNEL TAKEOVER EXCITES SIGNIFICANT OPPOSITION

  • The Detroit and Canada Tunnel Corporation has been working behind the scenes with Detroit City Councilors to derail the proposed operational takeover of the tunnel. The Canadian federal government has formally expressed concerns about the proposed super plaza and tunnel takeover. On November 18 the Detroit City Council passed a resolution also expressing serious reservations about the proposal…
  • It seems likely, however, that bridge owners will continue their push to construct a twin bridge span across the Detroit River, which would present serious challenges to officials on the Canadian side of the border…
  • The chess game to control the primary border crossings between Detroit and Windsor has continued behind the scenes for the past few weeks.
  • In late October Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada, Anne McLellan, sent a letter to Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis expressing concerns about the proposed super plaza. McLellan wrote that Canadian Customs and Border Services Agency personnel could not operate at the proposed super plaza on U.S. soil under current Canadian law or agreement with the U.S. She added: “We are not seeking such an arrangement in Windsor-Detroit…”
  • Belitsky outlined the DCTC,s six basic concerns with the Ambassador Bridge proposal. He:

“–questioned whether a private entity should exercise virtual control over the primary border crossings between Detroit and Windsor…”

  • NOTE: The City of Windsor vehemently opposes the Ambassador Bridge,s plan, which makes it likely that, if Detroit agrees to give the tunnel lease to the Ambassador Bridge Company, the tunnel would end up being managed by two separate operators.
Belitsky observed having multiple tunnel operators has contributed to delayed public safety reactions during emergencies such as recent tunnel fires in Europe. END NOTE)
  • On November 15, Belitsky said the Detroit law firm of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, and Cohn, L.L.P., on behalf of the Canadian government, sent a letter to the Detroit Mayor and City Council expressing concerns with the Ambassador Bridge proposal and requesting consultations before the Council formally considers the Ambassador Bridge proposal…
  • Text of letter from Honigman, et al to Detroit Mayor and City Council follows.
    Begin Text.

Dear Mayor Kilpatrick and Council Members:
The owners of the Ambassador Bridge had been clear that their desire to own the Tunnel is associated with their proposal to create a new port of entry that would service both the Ambassador Bridge and the Tunnel. As you are no doubt already aware, the Government of Canada has serious concerns with the diminution of redundancy that would result from having only one pot [sic] of entry…
The Canadian Government is certainly sympathetic to the budget needs of the City, and would not presume to advise the City as to how to conduct its affairs. However, it appears that the proposal under consideration from the Detroit International Bridge Company would create a monopoly and harm the public which uses the Bridge and Tunnel. We cannot ignore any action which would potentially violate the law and harm thousands of American and Canadian citizens.
Given our concerns, our preference would be to discuss this matter with the Council before you meet to consider the Binding Agreement with the Detroit International Bridge Company. You should know that if you choose to proceed with approving the binding agreement before meeting with representatives from the Government of Canada there are other options available to us including litigation.”

I love it how the Canadian Government went after an American city and the US Government did not do a thing. Can you imagine the howls of outrage if that happened to a Canadian city?

Nice to know that the Government of Canada, City of Windsor and DCTC were all working together to oppose the Ambassador Bridge. Of course the letter from the law firm was incorrect because the Ambassador Bridge was never going to become the “owner” of the Tunnel. There are merely going to be the operator. Somehow it is fine for a private P3 company to operate a Government bridge but is not fine for a private company like the Bridge Company to operate a Government Tunnel.

As for a super plaza, what is it that Canada and the United States were talking about in Buffalo/Fort Erie? It was shared border management. There is no doubt that it was not being considered for Windsor/Detroit because if it was, then there would have been no need for a DRIC bridge. Obviously then, the Canadian Government position to use DRIC to force out the Moroun Family would have been seriously prejudiced.

It is pretty clear that Canada used the heavy-handed action of hiring a US lawyer to threaten Detroit with an antitrust lawsuit to scare the City to prevent their agreement with the Bridge Company being finalized. It is amazing how the competitor of the Bridge Company was able to see that letter and presumably provide a copy of it to the US Government. That again confirms how nasty the Bridge Company people are. Nothing like demonizing them.

Of course, the real purpose behind this was to prevent the Bridge Company from being involved in the Tunnel. A P3 operator of the DRIC Bridge, or rather the second Ambassador Bridge if the Bridge Company had sold out, will probably be forced to take over the Tunnel as part of the deal. They won’t really object because they don’t need a competitor like the Tunnel keeping tolls low when they need to charge as much money as possible in order to cover their costs to build a second bridge in Detroit. (Or rather to charge as much as possible to minimize the availability payments that the Governments will have to make to pay for the bridge because the bridge is not financially viable).

P3 companies like monopolies too so they can make money. It’s OK though. That would be a Governments approved “public” monopoly to screw taxpayers!

December 20, 2005

SUMMARY: Michael Kergin, Ontario’s Special Advisor on Border Issues, told the Consul General on December 6 that he is working to facilitate trade while maintaining high security standards at the border as mutually reinforcing objectives. He said the Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) study was proceeding well but could benefit from the attention and leadership of senior political-level U.S. and Canadian officials. Kergin expressed concern about the Ambassador Bridge proposal to assume the operating lease on the Detroit-Windsor tunnel…

  • Ontario is a stakeholder in border traffic processing, he said, but the federal government has the lead in resolving these issues
  • The Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) study process is working pretty well, according to Kergin. All involved jurisdictions (Canadian federal and provincial and U.S. federal and state) must stay united or the other stakeholders will drive wedges into the process. He noted local politics would trump the big picture in Windsor and Detroit. The Canadian provincial and federal governments are relatively happy with the central corridor that is the focal point for the two remaining possible bridge sites…
  • Kergin expressed concern that the proposed takeover of the Detroit-Windsor tunnel operating lease by the Ambassador bridge company raises serious governance issues. Public oversight of this near monopoly would be needed. He also expressed concerns about a possible twining of the existing Ambassador Bridge span, but suggested Canada,s major way to influence a possible twining of the bridge is by not providing the improved road infrastructure needed to feed the additional traffic onto the bridge.

Comment: Kergin is approachable and easy to work with. He will be a useful interlocutor for the U.S. on cross-border issues. We have heard that his appointment was not Premier McGuinty,s idea ) rather that his appointment was suggested by the federal government – though McGuinty reportedly quickly endorsed the idea. Kergin, who resides in Ottawa said he has had really good access to Canadian federal officials, though he is not close to the Martin government, having previously served as foreign policy advisor to former PM Chretien. We believe he will be able to cut through some of the complexity that can characterizes issues that cross federal and provincial lines. Kergin oversees Ray Mantha, former Chief Engineer of Ontario, who has built a Border Implementation Group within the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MOT) to implement the DRIC. Mantha, who advises Kergin, has also proven to be a valuable interlocutor to the Cnosulate.[sic]“

Watch out for those nasty wedgies! Stay united to beat Moroun! Work in concert together which really means do as Canada demands. And why not? Canada controlled Ontario and was friendly with MDOT. All that needed to happen was to charm the US Feds. Clearly, that was former Canadian Ambassador to the US Kergin’s job. Heck even his role was not the truth.

It should be abundantly clear now that Canada is running this file. Even Ontario’s border advisor was forced on them by the Feds. And he controlled senior Ontario officials!

Look who is giving such good information to the Americans to help fool them: DRIC people. Why those receiving the valuable information hardly had to do anything. Canadians wouldn’t lie now would they?

Haven’t the Americans ever heard the expression: Beware of Canadians bearing DRIC gifts.

Now you know how the Bridge Company was going to be pressured if all else failed: the DRIC road. Cut off their traffic, cut off their business, cut off their revenues, bankrupt them.

Please don’t tell me that Edgar (aka Eddie) did not know what was going on in this file right from the first time he became Mayor. Remember the Sam Schwartz drawing below.

It shows our new Champs Elysées on Huron Church Road. Did you notice it is not six lanes but four lanes. What a coincidence.

  • Do you remember when the Federal Transport Minister and the Ontario Minister of Transportation talked negatively about trucks on Huron Church Road?

  • Do you understand now why the $300 million of Border Infrastructure Fund money was never spent to fix up the road to the Ambassador Bridge?

There is no doubt in my mind that the final pressure point on the Bridge Company is to tell them that the traffic from Highway 401 will be “encouraged” to use the new DRIC road to the border rather than Huron Church Road. Oh, they will allow some trucks and cars to exit off to Huron Church. They have to do that or the businesses on that stretch of the road will go bankrupt.

Just watch all of the threats of cutting off traffic start up as the DRIC road starts taking place. However, you and I, dear reader, know that the road is really going north on Huron Church right to the Ambassador Bridge. Why else was the Tourist Office almost closed and why else are the University Schools being moved downtown. That road was engineered back in 2005 by the way!

After all, our Minister of Finance has said that the DRIC road is not a road to nowhere but will be built “regardless of crossing.” We already know that the contingency of the DRIC bridge not being built has already been taken into account with plans being made to move traffic right to the Ambassador Bridge.

When the Prime Minister of Canada wants to buy the Ambassador Bridge, then obviously it would be foolish not to have a plan to build a road to it.

CANADIAN MPS RAISE BORDER AND SPP CONCERNS

  • There is also concern by MPs who live in the Windsor area about bridge expansion and management and a desire for clarity and strategic planning between the U.S. and Canada on this key issue…
  • Judy Sgro, Liberal – York West, Ontario, Management of Ambassador Bridge: In a meeting with Poloff, Ms. Sgro asked for reassurance about how the Ambassador Bridge was being managed in terms of security and expansion. She was uncomfortable with the private sector management of the bridge in an era of rising threats and sought assurances that there was strategic planning being conducted by our two governments on the future of the bridge.
  • – Jeff Watson, Conservative – Essex, Ontario, Ambassador Bridge Expansion: Like Sgro, Watson covers a riding whose current economy depends on the smooth operation of the Ambassador Bridge, and whose future economy depends on the expansion of the bridge. He is very interested in the ongoing negotiations over twinning and the third span and the various options for this, and wants to see a better bilateral planning process for the future of the cross border infrastructure. He is concerned by recent indications that the U.S. may not be fully supportive of the Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) planning process. “If the DRIC is undermined,” Watson said, “there will be a free for all and the required infrastructure upgrades will be delayed,” with potentially negative consequences for the cross border economy. NDP MP Brian Masse from Windsor similarly is concerned with rumors he has heard that officials on the Michigan side of the border are considering abandoning the bi-national planning process…
  • In these and other discussions with MPs we get a good sense for the range of issues they are facing in border ridings. They leave us with several observations… Second, they appreciate clarity. On WHTI and the Ambassador Bridge what hurts us most if simple lack of clarity about what will happen and when.

Nothing like members of the Liberal and Conservative parties joining together to make it appear as if those Bridge Company people are so evil and bad. They have to be managed after all because they are a” private” operator. Again you can see the need to ensure that the American Federal Government is kept onside but that they don’t know too much about the border file to ask any significant questions.

January, 2008

  • Ontario provincial officials have decided on the design for the Windsor access road linking the end of provincial highway 401 with the customs plaza for the new international bridge under consideration by the Detroit River International Crossing (DRIC) project. On January 10 Fausto Natarelli, Director of the Windsor Border Initiative Implementation Group for the Ontario MoT, told Pol/Econ Chief the final decision to build the C$1.6 billion highway was made with input from key provincial Cabinet officials, including Windsor-area MPPs Duncan (Finance Minister) and Pupatello (Economic Development and Trade), but without the direct concurrence of Windsor municipal officials, who had proposed construction of an alternative “Green Link” (ref (A)). Windsor city officials are publicly clamoring for information on the proposed access road, but Natarelli said provincial officials will not directly engage Mayor Eddie Francis or other city officials, who have a track record of not respecting confidential information and using the local press to try to ramp up the pressure on provincial politicians…
  • In a separate January 9 meeting, Environment Minister John Gerretsen affirmed to the Consul General that the DRIC project is a high priority for his ministry and that Environment officials are prepared to expeditiously advance the provincial EA when they receive the formal application from MoT next fall…
  • Natarelli said Transport Canada separately is currently holding up a C$35 million plaza expansion project at the Windsor end of the Detroit-Canada Tunnel. Under the 2003-04 plaza expansion agreement, MoT and TC agreed to spend up to C$10 million each for plaza construction while the city agreed to acquire the needed additional property and kick in some additional funding. Natarelli said that TC officials, frustrated by the political grandstanding and spending choices (such as the C$500,000 to C$1.5 million spent retaining the services of New York-based traffic expert Sam Schwartz, ref (B)), are insisting the city kick in more funding for the project. Provincial officials are arguing to their TC counterparts that a single year delay in the project will increase project costs by more than the amount of money TC is demanding Windsor kick in. And right now Windsor claims it doesn,t have the money, Natarelli said.
  • ¶6. (C/NF) During a December meeting, Natarelli told Pol/Econ Chief that the City of Windsor has established a Municipal Corporation to “manage” the tunnel. The city then “sold” its management interest in the tunnel to the Municipal Corporation, which has subsequently applied for a loan against future tunnel revenues from the provincial agency — Infrastructure Ontario. Natarelli explained that this shell game enabled the city to obtain the funds it needed to pay its share of the cost of renovating the tunnel ventilation system. The city meanwhile has reportedly been spending its tunnel toll revenue without setting aside funding for future capital needs.
  • ¶7. (C/NF) Comment: Ontario is committed to advancing construction of the Windsor access road linking the end of highway 401 with a new publicly-overseen international bridge between Detroit and Windsor. The tactics of the Windsor municipal government headed by Mayor Francis has alienated the provincial and federal transportation officials who are planning and will be constructing major border infrastructure projects within the city limits. Because of its linkage to the binational bridge, the access road project will not be derailed. But the sorely-needed plaza expansion project in downtown Windsor, is taking a hit, to the detriment of Windsor residents, many of whom commute through the tunnel. Despite the obvious lesson for city officials, we do not expect Windsor to adopt more accommodating tactics, leaving city officials as a factor to be ignored or overcome as federal and provincial officials work to improve border crossings in southwestern Ontario. End Comment.”

Now did you really think that the Environmental Assessment was a fair and objective and impartial process? Think again.

Remember when Dwight and Sandra told our Council that they could not meet with them because of provincial legislation that required them to stay out of discussions relating to the border file. What a crock.

When the decision had to be made who got involved:

“the final decision to build the C$1.6 billion highway was made with input from key provincial Cabinet officials, including Windsor-area MPPs Duncan (Finance Minister) and Pupatello (Economic Development and Trade).”

Oh I feel so sorry for the US Government people. Did they ever get suckered! They bought into Canada’s propaganda hook, line and sinker. They were misled just as we were thinking that Edgar was our hero fighting the Province for years and years and years to get the best for the people of Windsor. Hogwash. Gord told us the truth years later, or as much of that as he was prepared to let us know:

“A killer quiche bought goodwill and more”

  • In early 2008, with the battle between the city’s GreenLink proposal and DRIC’s Essex-Windsor Parkway plan at a fever pitch and with relations between Mayor Eddie Francis and the city’s two provincial cabinet ministers going through an especially rocky patch, Pupatello decided it was time for the trio to sit down, roll up their sleeves and speak their minds, no holds barred, in an attempt to eliminate misunderstandings and mend the relationship.
  • The Warrior Princess, never someone to be trifled with, invited (make that ordered) Francis and Finance Minister Dwight Duncan to a clandestine breakfast at her South Windsor home where, over her infamous bacon and cheese quiche and strong coffee, the three of them got everything but the kitchen sink off their chests. This wasn’t a negotiating meeting. With the environmental assessment of the Parkway still underway, the two Windsor ministers remained gagged and bound with bureaucratic Velcro. There could be no promises made. No commitments. No horse-trading.
  • But there could be, and needed to be, a drastic change in the working relationship of Windsor’s three most important politicians. They needed to recognize that they were on the same team, the Windsor Team, and had the same objective in mind, the best possible border infrastructure deal that could be carved out for their city.
  • “We’re going to sit here until we sing Kumbaya if it kills me,” Pupatello recalled telling herself as the “Quiche Conference” started off on a stiff, almost brittle, note. But being Windsor- bred politicians, the painful formalities were soon cast aside in favour of honest, unvarnished talk. Oh to have been a fly on the wall that morning when the gloves came off and the china started rattling at the Pupatello kitchen table.” (Gord Henderson Windsor Star 04-17-2010)

Just take a look at the Schwartz drawing again to understand that Edgar was involved with right from the beginning. That is not to say that there were no disagreement amongst the parties opposed to the Bridge Company. There is no doubt that each of them fought amongst themselves to get as much of “East Europe” as they could. But to make it appear as if Edgar was not onside to fully Americans, how disgusting.

An aside for Windsorites only:

Is it any wonder that no significant Corporation has decided to locate here or set up a new plant while Edgar has been Mayor? If you thought that development had stalled under our former Mayor, then you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Talk about a black eye for the City of Windsor, this is it in spades. Nothing that any Blogger could write would be as damaging as what was said about our Mayor and Council to the US Federal Government and then commented upon by US officials. If you don’t think that these same US officials will tell people who want to relocate here how bad this City is, then you must still believe that there is a need for the Undevelopment Commission to be around.

It really is that bad. I wish I had seen this document before the last Municipal election. Frankly, after this comment alone, Edgar should do the decent thing and resign and go. But continue reading to see how bad it really is with this Mayor. If only we had the power to recall an elected official as they do in Michigan as an example.

How about this:

“…provincial officials will not directly engage Mayor Eddie Francis or other city officials, who have a track record of not respecting confidential information and using the local press to try to ramp up the pressure on provincial politicians…”

However, the worst thing is that the reputation of the Mayor as a business person was absolutely destroyed in this memo. Can you imagine, the Mayor not having enough money to pay for the City’s share of the Tunnel Plaza Improvements and yet wanting this City to spend US $75 million to take over the management of the Detroit side of the Tunnel. That would have bankrupted us considering the sharp decline in the volume of traffic.

It is more than that however. The Tunnel is almost as old as the Ambassador Bridge. We know how much money Matty Moroun is putting into revitalizing that Bridge. We have seen the engineering reports that say that it is in pretty good condition considering its age.

We know nothing however about the condition of the Tunnel. How good or bad shape is it in? I think that I should be very concerned about taking the Tunnel when crossing the border considering this:

“And right now Windsor claims it doesn,t have the money, Natarelli said…

  • Natarelli explained that this shell game enabled the city to obtain the funds it needed to pay its share of the cost of renovating the tunnel ventilation system. The city meanwhile has reportedly been spending its tunnel toll revenue without setting aside funding for future capital needs.”

I had asked both the City and Transport Canada for a copy of any Engineering Reports on the Tunnel. I have received nothing. I had better ask for those reports again. More importantly, why isn’t the Federal Government doing its job to ensure the safety of users of the Tunnel. Where is Congressman Dingell who was supposedly so concerned about the safety of the Ambassador Bridge?

The hypocrisy of opponents of the Ambassador Bridge is disgusting.

Can you imagine the treasures that can be found in the files of the Office of the Prime Minister or the Governerd or with the Premier?

Would you like to know what Prime Minister Harper said to Presidents Bush and Obama of the United States about the border file and building DRIC specifically. What stories he must have told him to try to justify its construction, or rather, to help force out the Bridge Company. Canada’s Ultrasecret Playbook is in full operation.

I sure would like to see the memos amongst the parties as they plotted against the Bridge Company. I would like to know who is responsible for all of the lies, misinformation and disinformation that have been spread.

Shouldn’t you?

It is all available. It is all there. It will be a war though to try and get access to the materials. It would take years and require countless appeals and court applications. The Governments would do everything in their power to prevent their disclosure, to prevent accountability and responsibility being placed on specific individuals.

Secrecy rules. Keep citizens in the dark. That is what our Governments have come to. That is why there is an urgent need for a Wikileaks and a Squeeki-leaks. If they did not exist, they would have to be invented! continued  »  Summary.

Why Nobody Trusts the Mainstream Media

Do you have faith that your news provider is reporting the truth?

  • Always covering every side of the story? Never biased?
  • Is your mainstream media source run by individuals with absolutely no conflict of interest?
  • Who owns the company, that owns the company, that owns the TV or radio station?
  • Is there a group of people who dominate the supply of information?
  • Do you think you will hear the truth about their ambitions and activities?
  • If the channel boss tells his reporter to spin a story in a certain direction, which do you think the reporter values more; his income necessary to live, or the unvarnished truth?

Is it a problem that the top six media corporations dominate the information flow to most of the developed world?

I think so.

Multi-billion SDR (Have the globalists imploded it yet? Sorry, I’m getting ahead of myself). Multi-billion DOLLAR conglomerates, to use John Perkins‘ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7Fzm1hEiDQ] visualisation; “float around the globe like clouds”, with no loyalty to any particular nation, regardless if they have a head office in the very land mass in to which they pump warmongering patriotism and mainstream fear. Oh, and abdominal exerciser infomercials.

One of the issues is commercially driven mass media serves a profit-hungry loyalty to sponsors; meaning advertisers and government, not the public interest. There are bigger trends to consider too. Can history provide us any teachings?

Six Points

Six company names; Bertelsmann, NBC (Comcast / GE), Disney, News Corporation, Time Warner, and CBS (/ Viacom) summarise the biggest controllers of media and information flowing through our eyes and ears today.

It really is overwhelming to witness the power of a few men over all manner of worldwide media outlets, whether cinema, TV, DVD’s, print newspapers, magazines, cable TV, radio networks, or book publishing.

Wherever you look, editors are paid by their seniors make sure that certain topics are given attention, and other topics are not given attention. Do you think that a media mogul is ever going to run a devastating hit-piece about himself, should the truth make his position untenable? Of course not. Is it so hard to imagine that just as the wealthy and connected chiefs of these Orwellian empires would never act to hurt their personal interests, just as similarly they would never act to hurt their commercial interests? How about the commercial interests of their friends?

There is a Russian proverb:
(note: image source missing)

“Where money talks, the truth is silent.”
Don’t Bite The Hand That Feeds You

So-called journalists and reporters have mortgages to pay and mouths to feed, just like the rest of us. When confronted with heart-wrenching choices between intuition-approved honesty, versus the grinding war machine of profit and power, it is easy to understand the how and why corporate slaves roll over and capitulate to even questionable ambitions of their paymasters.

Their paymasters too, are subject to the rules, policy, laws and pressured from their superiors and executives above them. With the influence of money, the few at the top dictate to an organisation marching in lock-step to serve the superior beneficiaries in the boardroom.

Stepping back to gain some perspective, it seems that the charted direction of these corporate owned media warehouses of BS, endlessly continues to consolidate both wealth and more importantly; power. Disregarding any ethics or morals along the way, the obvious trajectory from 50 major companies sharing the US media market in 1983, down to 14 in 1992, and 6 today, alarmingly points out the looming next phase clearly sought by the owners, which is a de-facto monopolistic integration in to a centrally controlled communist propaganda machine. As Mark Crispin Miller remarked in the excellent documentary; Orwell Rolls in His Grave (2003) -

“Ostensible diversity that conceals an actual uniformity.”

Very few media employees have the courage to bite the hand that feeds them. Fewer still, have the balls to branch out independently and free themselves from this command and control information system in the hands of a few, which will only report selected truths, if it suits their agenda and business interests.

It seems that the masses are currently duped in the tsunami of apparent choice and synthetic diversity which allows us to flick and click through regulated, edited and censored information, akin to Pravda in Communist Russia, except that today the media manipulators are WAY more sophisticated.

Concepts like “engineering consent” as highlighted eloquently in Adam Curtis’ The Century of the Self [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432232/] Documentary would leave Edward Bernays and his manipulative schemers with wet trousers if they could see the modern magnitude of today’s sophisticated propaganda machines and monopoly of information control.

With no fair competition, reporters can say whatever they like, even make up straight lies in the presence of mainstream immunity, because there ARE no opposing mainstream channels which could distribute any counteracting truths on the scale of these corporate media giants. (see the Murdoch owned Sky News example in the video).

Gatekeepers

As Charles Lewis, former producer for “60 Minutes” remarks; the coverage of interrogative political news is halving year on year, whilst funding (should we say; bribing?) of the media comes increasingly from government. Government itself has long ago been in the hands of those criminal banking elite who control the money supply through the central Federal Reserve bank, which is as we all know, is not a public organisation acting in the public interest, but a PRIVATE organisation acting in the interests of the supremacist elites.

“Give me control of a nation’s money and I care not who makes her laws.”
Mayer Amschel Rothschild

This replicates the idiom “don’t bite the hand that feeds you” not only on a personal level, but on a corporate ownership level, where funding for political ads and presidential campaigns does not circumvent the monetary forces of cause and effect.

  • Cause: I give you a bunch of “donations” to fund your political success.
  • Effect You listen to what I say, pass the laws I want, and invade the countries I suggest.

Despite trying to hide these donations through individuals, employees, and family members rather than declare the corporate backers openly, the hijacked principles of democracy have been trampled in the race for corporate governance OF the governors, including the President, as demonstrated by the plethora of banks, media conglomerates and educational businesses (formally known as Universities), vying for influence to pull the strings of whichever puppet President is (s)elected at the time.

At a national level, where single-point-of-failure institutions like the Whitehouse, and the Fed are also ruled by these wealthy elites, many of whom have ties to Israel, the same idiom applies.

If you want to find where the hidden hand leads, and wonder how a small cabal of supremacist elites can shape foreign policy in so many nations, start wars and literally rule the world; investigate fiat currency: The paper money printed by private central banks is THE single most powerful control mechanism in the world. Period.

With such control, it is possible to generate money out of nothing, to buy up corporations as if they were penny sweets, for example the media companies which serve the interests of the elite, and to buy out any competition which might pose a threat to the supremacist elite’s hegemony.

Today we review the state of one aspect of this control grid; mass media, and find that our generation and those before it have all been asleep at the wheel as we let corrupt regulators enjoy their rides on revolving doors as they succumbed to the corporate gang-bang hosted by the globalist elites.

We are now left with a handful of corporations and conglomerates who between them, pump out uninformative tat to entertain, amuse, confuse, titillate, divide, and broadcast as Chalmers Johnson put it; “the line”, just like Pravda did. The mechanics of a one party state broadcast is here, as usual, cloaked in deception to hide the real intentions and protect the stolen wealth of those at the top.

Re: The 9/11 truth is out on the internet

This is the truth: The WTC was destroyed by 3 underground thermo-nuclear explosions. They were detonated by the US government which used this as an excuse to lead the US and its allies into invading Afghanistan and Iraq. All these wars and deaths were based on a lie.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” ~Goebbels

Will you help to tell the truth to the world?

Be sure to watch the 26 part video there: http://www.911-truth.net/

#4 is on the built-in nuclear demolition scheme of the WTC

#14 in on Building 7, which collapsed even though no plane hit it.

#24/25 is on the chronic radiation sickness of the WTC responders
